You seem to be on the right path with a PR of 3 and plenty of views. For search engine results you must pick keywords which are not overly popular and "tech news" is going to be an extremely difficult keyword to reach the top ten where you will be getting organic traffic. Try going after some long tailed keywords these are what I build up first. A good way to see the strength of your competition is to search Google for the keyword which you would like to rank well for and run checks on the top ten. Then do a check to see the amount of traffic for the keyword~ https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal make sure the keyword has enough traffic. Anything over 50k monthly will be pretty hard to get.

The structure of your site is fine. Very clear, fast, and simple.

what were you thinking when you named a tech blog dungz.com?

haven't you seen all those top ranked sites with the keywords in the URL?

if you'd dug for an available to register .com .org .net based on a searched for tech keyword phrase you'd have made your job much easier

Thats great that you manage to write 2 to 3 articles a day. I would recommend that you should try and write Quality content and bookmark it to as many social sites as you can. Also you should try to submit your blog url to Blog directories to gain maximum of the backlinks. Gaining SERP ranking for a new blog will take come time, you should continue this process for 3 months, you will surely be benefited

Perhaps he was going for branding with his domain name rather than SEO. After all Amazon does not contain keywords in the domain name either

I'm wondering if you have seen all those top ranked sites with no keywords in their name?

Amazon
ebay
FaceBook
Yahoo
Google

I realise that the domain name does play a factor, but the way you said "What were you thinking?" just seems a bit too harsh in the scheme of things.

second opinion on domain name selection

IMHO, there are 2 approach in selecting a domain name:
A - keyword rich domain name
B - brand-able domain name
I use option A for niche specific website with sort term target, and option B for more authoritative website/portal with long term target.

In short, both are applicable approach, depend on what's your plan for the website.

I'm a Brit - and we're blunt and sarcastic!

As an ex-SEO it was a daily battle I had to fight with site owners - they wanted their name in the site's code for "branding" purposes - I wanted keyword search phrases only

This guy isn't Amazon, ebay, FaceBook, Yahoo, or Google - anyway Amazon didn't make money for years, Google used to sell clicks for pennies for the first couple of years

The big boys are now well established, having used vast quantities of shareholders money to establish their brands - we need to be realistic and smart - and using your name for branding purposes is dumb

I rate it on a par with optimizing a web site for search terms nobody searches for - I've had those clients as well!
