DHTML Menu | Drop Down Menu

Anyone used DHMTL menu in a search engine friendly design recently? We are a little leary, but are exploring the drop option. Unlike JS you cannot use a nice tidy external file for the code (as far as we are aware). Any drop down suggestions? Is it even an issue?

Thanks,

- PT

I think it would not be a problem, but I would advise you to keep the JavaScript external like you suggested yourself.

I am not aware of any DHTML dropdown menu script NOT being triggered by JavaScript. DTHML is the layout and JavaScript is the code that runs the menu. Which causes an issue with SE's spidering those links.

You could always use Server Side Includes for seperating the menu code. But it doesn't solve your JavaScript issue.

My bad....you do need JS, which you can use an external file for. DHTML just requires it all have more code than we would like.

Found a good post here at the HRF with some options for anyone interested:

Hi Michael

I would play it safe and add a well laid out Sitemap that contains standard HTML links. Also, have a standard HTML link to the Sitemap on your homepage.
