Keyword monitoring software
Are there commercial applications that will monitor the rankings of sites? (similar to the digitalpoint tool). I have a huge amount of sites that I want to monitor on G, Yahoo and MSN with about 15 phrases each. I'm willing to spend some cash to get it, any recommendations?

thanks for the link onlyone. I only want to use these programs to check what my rankings are without having to manually search (which is extremely time consuming when you have over a hundred sites and about 10 key phrases each). I optimize and promote my sites myself, I just need a little help measuring my success.
I downloaded the demo of Internet Business Promoter. I'm only using the rank checking feature, which is pretty good. The only problem I have is that sometimes I will run the same check twice and get slightly different results. I wonder if this is becasue it might be accessing a different datacenter each time? It's still a huge timesaver, though, so I will probably buy it.

Hi Dark Matter,
All ranking software are timesavers. Try to not use IBP on Google for rank check you can be penalized.
The problem you have is not a software problem it's a search engine problem. The most accurate results are obtained at night.

Onlyone, I appreciate your input but would like some clarification on your statements.
Google will penalize my website for using IBP? What if I'm checking ranks on a site I don't own? That would make it easy for competitors to mess up my rankings, and vice versa.
Why (or how) is it that more accurate results are returned at night? How did you come to these conclusions? Thanks.

Did you read the "Facts and Fiction" link?
http://www.google.com/webmasters/facts.html
Fiction: Automated "ranking checking" programs are a good way for webmasters to save time and measure their "online presence."
Fact: Automated "ranking checking" programs violate Google's terms of service. They use server resources that should be spent on answering user requests. We strongly request that you not use rank checking programs to check your position on Google.

After I read that article I downloaded Advanced Web Ranking, Agent Web Ranking and Web Position Gold. Tested them for 1 month. Here is my conclusion.
Advanced Web Ranking does each query page by page, pausing between two consecutive pages. For each engine, it will only do a single query at a time, avoiding unnecessary searches, by stopping when all the user's URLs were found.
This tool seems to be safe.
During the day(hours) Google's engines harvest site's data and give different resoults. At a set time he will stop for a momment and will give a accurate resoult. After that it begins another harverst.

I understand that google doesn not approve of this practice. however, some of the rank checking software I've looked into claim to mimic the surfing patterns of users and avoid spamming google. I guess this is BS, huh?
Do most of you use programs like this to check your rankings, or do I need to actually manually check them by hand?
thanks for the quick response onlyone. I will take your experiences into consideration.

I almost bought the product based on your comments but when I read this I felt betrayed so I will avoid this product because your "testimonial" is not credible IMO.

funny I suspected as much when I saw this was his first post and the article smacks of sales pitch.....but his profile didn't have any email or website to check on. nice catch!
I'd still like some guidance from the forum on this though.

Hello Imaginemn,
For those who didn't understand my last post I just want to say two things:
-This text was taken from their site web (I didn't violate any law by taken that text from their web site) "Advanced Web Ranking does each query page by page, pausing between two consecutive pages. For each engine, it will only do a single query at a time, avoiding unnecessary searches, by stopping when all the user's URLs were found."
- I gived an advice that's all. I'm not here to sell a software.
A forum is a space where people should give advice, tips, not for fighting each other.

No software currently can forecast real search ranking today.
