Meta Tags - Use it or not
I am in little confusion about using Meta tags because as I know meta tags are devalued and not valuable for search engines as earlier and do not help to get higher ranking on search engines or Page rank so still we should use meta tags or now we should leave it.
Does it all right to add meta tags and leave your keywords open among your competitors. I mean by using keyword tag we add our all main keywords to our keyword tag and your competitors can easily see your keywords through view source and your hard work in selecting right keywords will be waste and your competitors have better chance to rank well and also have great chance to beat you without doing enough hard work.
What should we do, use it or avoid Meta tags now?

Then steal keywords from your competitors and get a great chance to beat them without doing enough hard work.

not all SE devalued meta tags like Yahoo which still added a little weight on meta tags,. Its google that no longer use this one,. Adding meta tags wouldn't harm your site but adding it will give your competitors the list of your important keywords,. So the options are to put meta tags for a little weight you can gain or not put meta tags for the reason of your competitors,.

It is all right to use meta tags because it is the way to rank well and to be visible in the search engine. It is alright for the "competitors "to see your keywords because it is part of the internet marketing strategies.

actually, there is no problem putting up meta tags and especially, the meta keywords. Even if your competitors can freely see what keywords are you using, they have nothing to do about it for sure. they just know what keywords to find your site in SEs...Even if they get your keywords, still you don't have to worry about it, its his own problem to get it rank. after all its just keywords. its all up to your performance to get it rank in SEs.

In my case I have seen lot of my competitors do not use meta tags at all. They leave it upto the search engines to determine. And some of them do rank better then me.
I think you should add them if you wanna emphasize more on certain keywords.

Not using the keywords metatag won't prevent your competitors from analyzing your pages and determining which keywords you're targeting simply by determinig the desity of words and phrases on your page, which words or phrases you use in header, bold and strong tags, and your page title and directory name.

If someone wants to find out what keywords you're targeting, they will find out
As far as meta tags are concerned, while they are indeed not nearly as important as they once used to be, implementing them definitely can't hurt.

The only Meta tag I worry about any more is the Description tag. Google sometimes uses this when creating a snippet for the page. It doesn't hurt to include a Keywords tag but don't spend much time on it.
It's far more important to pay attention to the keywords in Title, on the page and in the URL.

For me meta tags are still valuable...right when you put meta-tags it doesn't harm your site instead it can help somehow...You don't have to be worried if you competitors cheat your keywords because even they see it, it doesn't matter...its up to you how great you are in SEO...

It is still part of the on-page optimization process, right? And it won't do you any hurt putting some... It would be of help in some way too... So you better put some. It doesn't matter if your competitors see your on-page optimization. The only thing that would matter is on how you build your backlinks.
