Google Not Counting InBound Links

Guys I was wondering if someone could explain to me why Google counts certain inbound links but not others. I currently have atleast 60+ but google only shows 22.

Im not sure what the criteria would be, or the reasons why certain links get indexed and others don't. While most seem to be decent links that in my eyes would be counted versus others.

when you check your backlinks in Google, they don't show you all of the backlinks you have.....but this does not mean those links are not recognized and factored into your rankings. Every single backlink you have is counted in some way, but Google is trying to make things a little tougher for people to manipulate their serps so they aren't showing all links. Alltheweb.com gives a more extensive list of backlinks, though no search engine can show you all backlinks.

Thanks for the quick response dark_matter. I will look at alltheweb.com and see if i'm showing more results.

I guess though from what your saying I should just keep building and not worry if they all show in Google's backlink results.

Just to show the results alltheweb.com showed almost 250 inbound links so that's cool.

The disturbing part is that the sites that rank better or have a higher pr than me, one shows over 500 in google, they must have atleast a thousand or so.

Got a lot of work to do I guess

Not sure how ya got the results. All I see is a string with a bunch of

-sdfgsdfgsdfg

How did that effect the display of your backlinks?

google is useless for showing backlinks...they only show a small sample of backlinks.

instead try a search on yahoo!

linkdomain:www.yoursitehere.com

Yeh it seems that most big search engines besides google do well at displaying back links.

Try MSN (beta) as well. They are showing a lot of backlinks at the moment.

It shows 28 of 514 links i just search for my main keyowrd HIV i add the unflitering sdfga crap and than you search within those results putting your url in and google will tell you the exact amount of links they have indexed for your site, which for me is 514 although they only showed 28 of them.
