Hmm, well there's always some loss where there is a gain on one end of the scale.
But most of the people are partying as most of everyone is happy!

Some of my keywords on msn search:
website translation services - number 3
spanish translation services - number 5
spanish translation - number 8
english/spanish translation - number 9
translation english-spanish - number 13
among others.
It's simple, msn likes v7 forum people.

I'm doing well too, #6 for my main keyword (#4 in Google). Now, if only I could get Yahoo! to do the same... I love MSN's backlink function too, it lists thousands of backlinks, vs only a hundred or so in Google.
Good luck to all.

does any one have a feel for what the emphasis might be in MSN beta algo? I have not been doing so well in G because I don't yet have enough class C's pointing at me, but until recently had been dominating MSN and Yahoo because, I guess, of my on page optimisation. The new MSN beta doesn't seem to be as link precious as Google, so what is making the big difference do you think?

From what I can tell exact keyword anchor text and alot of keyword density. Most my links have the same anchor text, even though google may like you to mix them up, looks like it doesnt make a difference to MSN.

Yeah, MSN Beta is doing wonders for me... I rank, depending on the day, anywhere for #4-#1 for the term "photography" which is giving me hundreds of hits per day from MSN... I'm getting more hits from MSN this month than google and yahoo, which is a first. I'm loving it.

Bingo! Finally I have found some one who is experience the same conclusions and questions.
Its weird that MSN Search is working for all you SEO Forum users and you must all be out doing older sites. My site is now an older more established site with many Unique IP inbound links and my site has done badly.
It could be:
The query string in the URL being penalised (It would be stupid as Windows server has difficulty mod re-writing URL’s)
Less internal pagers are being spidered despite having all links pointing from a static page.
Or it could be a cunning ploy by Microsoft to capture unnatural linking to the top of the results and then drop them when MSN beta goes live… again unlikely.
