WTF indeed. We're aware of a number of sites that are no longer found when searched for by company name. Instead, Google chooses to return pages that link to the missing page. Go figure.
Have you notice what appears to be panic crawling begining on/about 22nd 23rd? I think they're trying to rebuild a screwed up index.
If you check the backlinks today over at 216.239.53.99 and a few other data centers, they've reverted to last months backlinks.
Who knows what the Ides of March will bring.

Welcome to Google.
"We crap on everyone eventually"
There is nothing wrong.. they know exactly what they are doing and have tested it before it was released. They may not have excepted the backlash however.
In reality, the adsense works great but the algorithem is unstable and unreliable - and they really could care less.

Google had Platinax ranking 75th for itself over the first couple of days, but it's since showing proper placement. I think we really are looking at a screw-up - the DC's keep showing rolling results - like there are three indices in play and Google can't decide which one to use, so we get some weird incomplete one instead.
Although there is short term pain, I geniunely don't think the missing site index pages are going to remain missing, but will be back in the index for March after Google has rebuilt itself properly.

The Google results keep getting worse while Yahoo! keeps getting better. I now search on Yahoo! as much as on Google. You really have to wonder what they are thinking over at Google.

Think I had mentioned this in a post about a month ago. Google has tweaked their algo's so much that their searches are actually becoming less relevant.

Yes I noticed the other day that SEO book was removed from Google ...you have my condolences.
Besides a few off-topic sites, when using TouchGraph to check relationship(s), SEO book was pretty much right on target. In fact it's still #1 on MSN & Yahoo.
Don't feel like the lone stranger ...although we have several sites which appear to be bullet proof against Google's algo tweaks and index upheavals, we also lost twice as many more sites during the early February turbulence. Again though, they're all still #1 listings on Yahoo & MSN.
Between ourselves and our clients, dollar revenue lost has been astronomical.
Even my personal contact site (from which I offer the directory list) has historically always been #1 for my name ...now its only shown on the scraper trash pages ...and I'm the only such person in North America! Google has me in their dmoz-mirrored directory, yet I have no pagerank bar in front (like the others).
Google also removed my index's cache, plus shows over 20,000+ pages indexed from an old XML feed I put up a long time back ...until yesterday the cache was dated 1969 ...now I notice the date's changed to Nov, 2004.
As I've said before, Google delegates so much energy to monitoring your communications, surfing habits and what's on your computer (via Toolbar, Picasa, Desktop search, Gmail, FireFox, etc.) that instead of maintaining her index and refining her algo, she has allowed the Google SERPS to turn to sh*t.
...mmm, Google ...it's like a solid waste breakfast everday!

I presume all will be fixed soon. Not good timing and I suspect industrial sabotage from Microsoft.

Not bad. Platinax has now disappeared for it's own name again.
EDIT: No, it's 50th.

I disagree, I think google is still giving good results, at least for what I'm searching for.

"Anyone" in this case would be webmasters ...the method used to increase the probability of Google figuring "that" out is called SEO (search engine optimization).

I think it's multifaceted ...it involves the search engine's algo, the shared distribution of data across its network, the sheer number of sites to be indexed, new sites coming online constantly, various SEO techniques implemented, cream rising to the top, etc., etc., etc.
Websites are like tiny krill in a vast ocean ...tossed to and fro upon the whim of wave action ...at times some reach the surface while others remain waiting their turn in the depths below.
Unless grand fathered in, or conspicuously anchored to some recognized foundation of authority, websites are not unlike floating objects in the sea ...all subject to the turbulent force of change.

IMO The common problem I'm seeing is the Title...I think.
example:
Look at awall19 site (I'll use the sites in this thread)
His site suggests that the Name is SEO Book
but his title shows: <title>SEO Book.com - SEO eBook, Search Engine Optimization Tips, & Search Engine Marketing News Blog</title>
then theres: I Brian
That I'm assuming his name is Platinax:
again his title is:<title>Platinax: internet,business,marketing,webhosting,webmasterin g,design</title>
Are you seeing the problem.
Your title should be the Companies Name (for your root domain)
and the key words and phrases should be as titles of sub pages along with keywords and phrased as content of said sub pages (the major content).
