I read somewhere that about 68 char is good.

I guess it would be more accurate since I posted the results for europe.

Currently for Google:

a 422 to 593 is suggested for the Body Text area

A total word count from 454 to 834 is suggested for the page as a whole.

A keyword frequency from 1 to 2 is suggested for the Alt area

A keyword prominence of at least 54% is suggested for the Body Text area.

A total frequency from 6 to 41 is suggested for the page as a whole
