Do PDF links boost SEO / Page Rank?

I can see that Google parse's and returns PDF documents as search results. So if there is a hyperlink to a website in an online PDF, will that link lend page rank consideration to the target website just like an HTML link?

Yeah.

I did a lot of .pdf pushing last year trough docstoc etc. and indeed the juice is parsed trough the file.

Got me also a couple of sites indexed within a couple of hours last year this way so.

Thanks Ibiza. You at gave me an idea. I noticed that docstoc is displaying some of my PDF forms without my permission. You gave me the idea to at least put links to my own website on those forms so I could at least get a backlink out of the deal.

No PR - that's disappointing.

Hi PT,

Thats odd... I assume others ripped your docs and placed them on DS right?

But indeed, it never hurts to have your link in a .pdf anyway

I don't think pdf links have any affect on pr or SEO. these just link place on a doc which have been uploaded on the internet. It won't make any difference.

I think so, because when i did the social publishing submission the article was being save as PDF file and it was crawlable by the bots and at the same time the hyperlink text in there is already live and do follow.

If the pdf file is dofollow, then it helps in PR.
However, never found any "dofollow" pdf file

Even if it does not have any effect on PR, do you think it has an effect on indexing?

definately not. Google does crawl pdfs , but links in pdf do not pass any pr. In case you have pdf documents , convert them into html pages. That way those pages if they have great content can benefit when others link to them and probably give you long tail traffic and rankings. Google is pretty big on user experience and just considers pdf's as a lot of work (to open etc.) as compared to html pages.
