What’s Your Favorite SEO blog? (Besides Google’s or Matt Cutts’)

I tend to spend my free time on forums and I don’t read enough blogs, but lately I have run acoss a couple of SEO that made me sit up and say, hey, I could learn a lot if I read this guy!

I’m very impressed with Michael Martinez’s SEO Theory & Analysis Blog. In particular I like his hardcore seo tips. They really make me think; it makes me stretch. I wish he would blog more often.

I also recently started following Bill Slawski of SEO By The Sea. I was very impressed by the analysis of the new PageRank patent awarded to Google last week (a must read if you care about PR), as well as Google Defines Semantic Closeness as a Ranking Signal. If you're serious about SEO and ready to go beyond SEO 101, I think Slawski is one to watch right now.

Which is your favorite SEO blog? Please share about your favorite SEO bloggers -- besides any Googlers or Matt Cutts –- and no fair mentioning your own blog!!

Why are they your favorite? Perhaps they explain things clearly? Or their graphics make the concepts so much clearer?

Whatever it is, be sure to tell us what you like about them, please. If you’re going to share a link to the blog site, please give us one to a post you think is particularly good and tell us why you chose that post.

Thanks!

I don't think I have a favorite, MJ. I try to skim the new posts on most all major SEO blogs, including SEOmoz, SEO Theroy and a few others. With me, it's more about reading what certain individuals, who I believe to be knowledgeable and provide both reliable and interesting SEO related information from time to time. Individuals that don't hear the news from the grape vine and spin it in another way to share with their readers, or spoon feed us with only the need to know information (talking in riddles, so much fun!).

People like Glick, Eli, Fishkin, and Slawski for example are among the few I pay attention to and dedicate some time here and there to catch up with. They don't censor themselves, they don't echoe what everyone else is batting about, and while not all update their blogs with SEO related content as often as I would like, whenever they do, they don't disappoint.

Can I ask you to do me a HUGE favor? Can you make sure to read the entire topic before responding to a thread? For example, it doesn't do us a lot of good to know your favorite SEO blogs if you don't also share WHY they are your favorites, as requested by the OP in this thread. Otherwise we could just search Google, ya know?

Am I invisible? C'mon folks, READ the entire post please.

Your admin doesn't pass out red reps often, but she might start considering it if she sees more low quality responses in this thread.

I always read Matt Cutt's blog, just because once in a while, he'll let something slip that has been pure conjecture in the past. Unfortunately, I've lost a lot of confidence in his reliability over the last year or so.

I like Rand Fishkin http://seomoz.org/blog a lot, for the same reasons as Guy. He's not afraid to call a spade a spade, and I find he's usually right. Him, I trust to be honest, and he's well informed enough to be reliable, nine times out of ten.

Another blog I like is John Britsios (Webnauts). His blog is almost more like a newsletter, but John really keeps his ear to the ground, and is more often right than wrong. He can be opinionated, but then, can't we all? And I find that being opinionated is more forgiveable when a guy knows what he's talking about. You can check him out at http://blog.webnauts.net/

Like guy, I have no favorite blog or bloggers. Furthermore, as a generalist, I've a much broader landscape to survey than does a specialist; and, with no more time than has the latter.

Therefore, I look to sources that aggregate the writings of many, and proactively provide me with featured samplings of such along with access to the balance.

With respect to the subject here, two of my favorite sources are SEO News and Site Pro News, published by Jayde Online, Inc., with the former being published weekly, and the latter 3 times per week.

The articles presented are varied by subject, author and source, so that you will not be continually presented with only those who are in agreement on any or all things.

Both e-letters are free and have no controlled circulation auditing requirements, such that they are quickly and easily had.
