Can search engines do this?

Dilema? can keyword string? ranking and popular search terms make google bots put there own title link on the web to any business homepage:
If so Could it be because the other business has 2 homepages with the same address and Google does not know what to do? The title that the business claims google bots put to their homepage is not written in their homepage html nor as their title, nor by them..San Juan Web claims google did it, not them. Can so many title changes at their site cause this?
Google keyword stringing, popular terms, ranking put San Juan Islands Directory as a title to their homepage. Does anybody know how google bots can do this? San Juan Web developes and maintains their own and others sites, they sell domain names, they supply internet service, they have servers? could that be a glich? If you go to Google Search Bar and put in the words: San Juan Islands Directory you will see one by San Juan Web and one that is the official business and domain name www.sanjuanislandsdirectory.
If you put in the search bar San Juan Web you will see their site with different title and same address read what I mean on this address
http://www.sanjuanislandsdirectory..../sanjuanweb.htm

I hope there is a webmaster that can explain how this happens.

Thank you... Yes it is... Can they edit that?... They told me they never used it in ads, and wouldn.t or anything but that google did it on the web... no mention of demoz..Apparently since this is new on the web as a title to their homepage because they activated something that caused it.. or there is still more to it because they have more than one listing with demoz for the same address just different titles???? Thanks for your help..

They can't edit the title in dmoz unless they have editor permissions at dmoz.
