I am stuck in second place!
I am stuck in second place!
It looks like I am gonna need a little push...
I made it to second place, mostly because of you guys, so I thank you all.
But, I am stuck in second place & I want to be first on Google.
I have tried everything, for some reason I can't pass the first one on top, even If I have more backlinks, and a better Page Rank.
I have tried to increase my Keyword Density, it work wonder for Yahoo & MSN (Was showing first for a really long time), but I don't really care for them.
I wrote articles...
I have redesigned it in CSS still can't reach first place.
I need your help.
I will give 2 links (from 2 different website) if you give me one.
Please PM me
Thanks

AGE is a factor too. The #1 site is probably older than yours is and the tip I have for you is build more links and have patience.

Being # 1
Sometimes it is better being number two. You will probably find you rank number one in some searches but keep in mind sometimes it is better to be number two or three as people do not always click the first link, your eyes tend to read down, especially since most people are aware of the sponsored links at the top and tend to click real results.
Think about your search patterns.

I have read that the top three spots usually get 100% of the clicks, then it starts to drop off. I would say that number 2 is a good place to be.

As long as you are on page one (preferably above the scroll) you are good to go. Most users will not click past page 1 of the SERPs.

Of course there are many factors that go into ranking, but beyond those that you mention I would suggest hunting down a couple of links from highly trusted sites.
I don't think there is any definitive way to determine whether a site is fully trusted, but clearly .edu and .gov sites are prime candidates.
Since it is nearly impossible for a commercial to get a link from a .gov, I also look for sites that are once removed. That is, a link from a site that has a link from a .gov is still very valuable, IMHO.
Expert and authority sites are also highly trusted, and tough to get a link from. But focusing on these classes of sites normally pays off with a link.... eventually.

IMO, there's little difference in the first five listings. Just make your title more attractive....but this may lower your ranking.

I think if you're in the top10, that's good enough, depending on your business and topic of course!
I'd be delighted to be in the top 20 for my no1 keyword as I beleive most lookers would go down at least that far to find what they're looking for.

Yes - I would be very happy with Google No. 2. If you carry on tweaking you might well find you will drop out altogether (and you might not even see why )

But the thing is that it makes no sense since I am number 1, with ALL the other search engines for that querie.
I have made one modification this week, hopefully this will solve my dilemn.
I don't make a lot of money out of this (ROI), it is more like an honor thing.
I have bet the guy who is currently is in first place that I would be first, by the end of the year.
It bother (trouble) me, since is website is in FLASH, and we all know that FLASH website are supposed to be harder to position.

That happened to me in Yahoo, in fact I was at #2 and was happy. Now, I'm like an EKG, up, down, up down....so you think excessive tweaking can do that?

I think Yahoo is cracking down on artificial link building.
