just started on this site and still confused on what should be my primary kw here. i've used digitalpoint & overture and thought that human opinions are much to be of big help.

should i go for "online classifieds" or "australian online classifieds"?

any ideas are greatly much appreciated. thanks!

"australian online classifieds" has pretty much no hits.

"online classifieds" has a couple hundred per day.
"free onlin classifieds" has about 150 hits per day
classifieds has many many more.

All of these terms seem to be "doable" as fas as SEO goes.
The cost to rank number one for all of them is under $0.70 (USD) per click on adsense. Even just plain classifieds is doable.

But, your site targets Australia so people looking to place ads in Mexico probably isn't the traffic you are looking for?

I'd target several different keyword phrases on different pages.

Maybe start with "online classifieds" and one or 2 minor phrases on the home page. and on the internal pages try to get some specific traffic around major cities in Australia.

You may use "online classifieds" and "free online classifieds" since you are offering free clasifieds for free.

perhaps try to target "classifieds".
1,881 searches/day using wordtracker for both USA and australia
and 8,552 searches /day using overture for USA and 243 searches / day in australia.
