I use Rank Checker (SEO Book's) for checking bulk number of keyword positions at a time. Rank Checker results may differ from the manually checked results. But not much.

Yahoo site explorer is also useful.

This just my opinion but the free ones are just as good as the paid ones. Although if you do SEO for a living then going with the paid ones is your best way to go.
