At what point is a practing seo a real seop?

Been eating, sleeping and breathing seo/sem for quite some years now and given that so many claim so much, I was wondering,,,
When is a practicing seo, sem, a real professional, in all of your professional opinions?
Is it in demostrated and consistant serps?
Is it when we can launch a site and have top top naturals in a week or so?
Beating the sandbox?
What?
When the client calls and say's,
"I dont know what you did, but could you cool it for a few weeks weeks while we hire and train new people".
Is that when we know we ate our seo wheaties?
Just curious.........

I think it would be when you can start with nothing and get the site(s) into the top 3 of the big 3 for organic listings..... and....do it for more than just one key word and do it again....and again.....and again....with other site(s)

I think seo/sem might, at the risk of offending doctors and lawyers, might actually be akin to such professions.
Really, all we can do is practice, refine and of coarse, constantly adapt.

Consistent demostrated results for natural results with the big 3,4, whatever, for 2-3 word terms, quick indexing and good natural results for the targeted terms, that and good conversion rates, and finally, handling oneself in a manner that does not give a black eye to the field....

How does that sound for summing up a seop/semp?

Sorry about that dude, let me try and shed some light on this for you.

From my recolection PAPABEAR1126 I think the following is true.

Google - You are required to sacrifice a goat to Bachus. (or whichever god they happen to following at the time)

Yahoo - Sell all your earthly possesions and if this does not meet their requirements, they may also require some of your blood at regular intervals.

MSN - You must sell your soul to the devil and even then, the contract may require constant updating.

Dmoz - They require 20 pieces of silver and a betrayal of the Christ. It seems that nowadays they are content with the 20 pieces of silver though. - (I understand that the betrayal of the Christ may seem impossible. You work it out.

The rest - I think you can get away with just donating your children for scientific experiments.
