Does page rank really matter in SEO
Hello,
Some of my sites dropped page rank so I am wondering if it affects in SEO or not.
Can anyone please tell me if this will affect my seo or not.
I have not changed anything in my sites lately.
Thanks.

If we based it in page rank, I think that you have to do more SEO on it or doing SEO in a nice manner that google will not suspect you as a spam. But page rank in google recognizes unique post or articles from you. So, you must have unique post all the time and proper way in SEO to ensure that your page rank will not drop.

If you want to get better rank in Search Result pages then remember PR is just one
in thousands factor that effect your rank.
PR is totally not important if you want to get better rank.
But PR can be used as a indicator of your backlinking success.

Hi,
Of course, PR is a ranking factor. But, as for SERP purpose, I think using right keywords as anchor text and quantity of back links would be more important than the quality of back links and page contents.
all the best,

Pagerakn is one of the factors for ranking results and of course there are many other important factors too and you should not concentrate only on Pagerank. Pagerank can not improve your ranking on Google on it's own. You should work on most parameters you can and one of them is pagerank.
The reason of decreasing pagerank of some of your websites is that maybe you lost some of your backlinks or the pagerank of those backlinks decreased so it effects your pagerank too.
Don't be worry about your pagerank. And i am saying again that Pagerank is only one factor

Well I believe PR doesn't matter much in SEO as long as you are getting a good amount of traffic. Traffic is the most thing for any web site. Only PR does not matter much, matter is your keyword rank in serp.

Pr does matter in seo but if your pr has not been increased or something like happend to it you must be doing something wrong some where .... do seo in right direction and follow the proper manner of doing things

Having a higher Google page rank does not play a significant factor in producing rankings, it does at least provide insight as a metric to specify if a page is receiving significant link flow from either internal links from other areas of your website or external links from other websites.

Pagerank doesn't has much impact on rankings, Though the fact remains that is, if you have lost pagerank it must be because you have lost some of your backlinks, and if you had lost some of your backlinks it may show up in your rankings that's what it is nothing else.....

I feel your pain.. I am not too concerned about the PR but Serp. Perhaps your keywords are very competitive. That makes your SEO effort more important.

Link building is the most important factor. but its got to be balanced with both do and nofollow links. You should have more Low PR sites linking to you than High PR Sites. For E.g. if you have a website with only 5 PR6 Websites linking to you then thats going to look abit odd.

Firstly I would just like to say what a load of crap most of the answers to this thread are! (Yep, I'm feeling argumentative today)
What you should be thinking about is have your positions dropped already? As this will come before you have any knowledge of a drop in PR, as SERP's are instant (as long as your not viewing personalised results of course)
You will never know what your real pagerank is, so don't worry about it, all you will ever be able to see is the toolbar pagerank and this is wildly out of date.
If you do something to try to affect PR now, even if you don't do anything else before the toolbar is updated, the algorithm will have probably changed anyway. So although it IS a ranking factor, you can't measure your success by it.
What you are probably seeing is a snapshot of your real PR several months ago, so if your site positions haven't dropped in this time, there's no problem.
Funnily enough, I did a blog post about this topic today (see my recent blog link above) hence the rant

How are you checking SEO? Have you seen a change?
PR does not affect SEO, but lower PR may tell the story of something going wrong in your optimization efforts which will show through in SERPS at some point in the future.

If you constantly worry about PR, you are wasting your time. The only thing PR is good for is selling links. If you want to rank high for keywords, forget about PR and focus on relevancy. This will entail getting relevant keyword text links. PR should have never been made public, it has almost ruined SEO.

I say PR result is one of the ways that you can see your SEO efforts.. showing high PR means your strategy works and therefore it is also important.. but there are also things that are as important as PR..

Pagerank has no direct effect when it comes to serp ranking. Don't focus more on pagerank, instead focus on your serp ranking.
