in the time it takes for you to worry about it I will have built ten links, the site might be a pr of 7 but you get a link on a page with no rank so it doesn't really matter. Just crank out the links.
Page Rank means exactly that"page"rank, not site rank. pr is transfered but sites are also reputable according to Google. Just crank out the links.

That depends on the PR of the websites from which you are getting links. If you are getting backlinks from 10 PR7 websites and backlinks from 50 PR1 websites, The first one is better.

a bit of butter made the bitter batter better.

To answer your questions, it's hard to tell- depending what you call high Pr and low PR.

To really answer your question, I would tell you that there are better ways to get PR than to try to build links manually. It's good a little bit, but create great content, a tool, useful info, a tutorial. Add some value to your website and links will be added by other people on it than you can create yourself.

I agree with Julien, a good site with plenty of great information and quality contents is the basic to get links automatically in quantity and naturally fast.

The only thing you can do manually is by submitting your site to directories, and social networks.

Good luck

Better do both. Always remember that your goal is to do backlinking in a natural looking way so Google won't think that you're doing wrong to your backlinking.

i think its pretty much the same...with 10 quality back links that's good enough to increase a couple of ranks within a search engine page result as well as 50 low ranking PR sites..

10 backlinks in higher PR sites & 50 backlinks in low PR sites will not bring much difference if you are in a very competitive field. Plus it depends of the importance of what backlinks you've already got for your site. I mean if you have for example a few thousands links already, a few more links even with different levels of PR will not do much.

Hi,

I think firstly we need to know if they are dofollow or not and if they are from niche relative sources.

Generally speaking, for PR purpose, I would like to have 10 dofollow backlinks on higher PR sites while for SERP purpose I would take up the later choice.

all the best,

Again high PR or low PR will not do much if the links are not related to the site.

High PR today and low PR tomorrow, nothing is acquired forever. If I was you, I will check first the reputation of the link sites and how they rank before focusing on PR.

I will go for the 10 backlinks with High Page rank. However, this sites should be do-follow for the reason of link juice. Link juice shares their page rank so the higher the site's page rank the higher the chance that your site will get a better page rank when linking is was successful.
