Signature Links

Hey whats up
I was thinking about the effect signature links have on rankings and was wondering if it would be more beneficial to have a signature that you manually make for each post instead of one which is attached to all of your posts. Doesn't Google notice that the link is automated and therefore not give it as much credit? Whereas if you put a different manual link each time you made a post it would help a lot more?

When I had brianhalacy.com, I had a link to it in my signature over at phpbb.com. I posted about 30 times a day, and had a PR of 9.

Signature links are no longer useful for ranking or PR building... actually they have been useless for a while now.

They are however very usefull for getting your sites indexed!!! Yup, it's a great way to get the spiders to visit new sites.

Fact is that sig links are SOOOO easy to spot, and therefore discredit... but they drive traffic so they're worth it.

from what i can tell, msn still eats them up. however they serve virtually no purpose in G.

I think Yahoo still likes them. Just can't be the bulk of your links.

As far as I can see MSN and Yahoo still dig the signature links. Google doesn't really give credit for signature links. With that said, I do get traffic from the links and they are great for getting a new site indexed.

My other site has done very well on msn I believe it might be to the sig...

On msn the site I build for a friend is ranked #1 illegal adoptions

this thread would probably explain why pages and sites that I create are indexed

• quickly in MSN if I have signature backlinks
• not as quick in Yahoo if it has signature backlinks
• and whenever the F Google feels like it whether I have sig links or not...

Just get some links in your signature in forums that are spidered frequently and your set. You will be indexed in very little time.
