Question about nofollow

Hi

ok this question is about the nofollow tag thing i have seen this on a thread some were and it got me thinking

well say my index page links to pages like about us, feedback etc etc

and say i have a index page rank of 6 well i know that the pages coming from that would be a 5 or 4 PR

so my question is=

If i use nofollow on them links to the pages like about us and feed back mostly pages im not intrested in PR on well would this effect SE's spidering and indexing my pages on my site

Meaning the pages that have the nofollow links to would they not get spiderd

Hope some one can help on that

Please note i would never use this to stop textlinks on my site getting PR from me as i find text links on sites can be great for SEO

The no follow attribute tells a spider not to crawl that link. So, you are cutting those pages off from SEs.

If you don't want a page to be spidered by search engines use "no index" on that particular page and it will not be spidered by search engines.

Thank you its not really the pages i dont want indexing

what i want is most of my pages indexing (not the private ones) but i dont want my PR on pages that are not that inportent so that my main pages and pages that are more inportent get better PR

The nofollow tag says not to vote for that page. It will still spider it if accessible from another link or google sitemap. You will need to use Robots.txt to remove the page from spidering.

Just a thought but lets say on this site they put no follows on say the /faq.php (which incidentally is pr 4) and as such spreading more to the more deserving pages. yes?

You stick up a "disallow /faq.php" same results but you lose all benefits of any incoming links.

So would the no follow not be better, save your own pg and still benefit from any incoming links/PageRank.
