They are two different competitions. The v7n contest starts on the 15th.

And I got that ugly site, that was in 3rd place, until a few hundred pages got added to the results!!!!!! Up to 517 results depending on which datacenter you look at!!!

I just went and did some whois date checking since you have to be registered on Christmas or since then, and there are only....eight domains that are even in the contest that are close to winning!!

Odds are if it doesn't have the keyword in the domain name, or seo contest, it can't win!! Then there's the rule about having your username/E-Mail address on the site. Last time I checked, atleast half of the sites didn't have it. Having as much compassion as I have, I let one of the competitors know and they added it. Ack..I helped da competition!!!

If you post a link to them in your blog, it shows up. It has rel='external' and I THINK that might block search engines though it doesn't say 'no follow'. Get some links with out the rel code and you should have no trouble geting in the listings in about three days. Ack.... giving tips to da competition!!!

This is why...

When I started this contest, I wondered if requiring all entries to be hosted with new domain names was a good idea, but now I am really glad I decided to do it this way. It forces contestants to actually use their SEO skills. It is a real challenge. I remember reading somewhere that the winner of one of the previous SEO contests won by just mentioning the contest on a blog one time. Where is the challenge in that?
