Yes. It can be very good.
It makes me about $50/day from keywords that I would not otherwise rank for.

it's great if you have enough weight, and almost useless if you don't.
In either case I would recommend taking advantage of it.

Dunno about searching first through, those posts date a long time ago and it's always good to refresh your mind, and re-evaluate services.

Well then.....
Currently I feel it's doing more harm than good. I just can't put my finger on it, it seems to work with some sites and not others. Any views?

Just don't give a new site too much weight!!!! It might get you banned from too many back-links at once!

There is no getting away from the fact that this is an unethical SEO service you will be providing. I know Google hasn’t got the time to de-list these sites but I would still stay well clear because it could add up to a possible penalisation (eg: Bluefind.com) or do your reputation no good, if you had to do for example a re-inclusion request.

Johan:
To analyze that properly, you must seperate the two kinds of co-op sites:
1. Those giving links.
2. Those receiving links.

I keep the two very separate myself and only usually add the ads to random forums and blogs not anything business orientated.
It has served me very well with a few sites but with a few others it's don more harm than good.
Must be something to do with trust once again.

The more ads you display on your own sites/ pages, the more weight you get, the more ads of your own are displayed on other peoples pages. We say ads but we mean back links :p the ads don't get clicked on much at all.
