Some people have been working on the competition for 4 months, perhaps as the referee and starter of the competition you should look to play & test theories using V7N.com which could effect the results after the 15th so that you can remain impartial and neutral during the comp?

Interesting point there. (Links removed for the moment.) So is it wrong to help out the contestants who are actually supporting V7n with link love?

I would say during the comp yes as you ultimately have to call the top 10 and be the referee, I know google decides but we have to rely on you to do the roll call tomorrow from Japan and seeing as its a V7N competition I think it would better for you to stay neutral.

Nope, no problem for me there. As long as V7N remains neutral - if you personally linked from your blogs that wouldn't bother me.

Would be interested to know which bad neighbourhoods Alek's competition page is linking to.

I also agree that even though no rules were not laid out, that V7N should stay impartial.

I think a few more people have realised that DP's coop is powerful

More of a confusing linking pattern in his links...

Quote:
$1,000 - Bruce Stone at Skaffe.Com & Sporge Directory
$2,000 - Jeremy Shoemaker at Shoemoney.Com (John's call)
$300 30 GByte iPod - Dan Freakley at g00gl3r.com
Random Drawing (see below) to give this away
In the "(still must) NOT link to V7N" camp is:
$1,000 - Greg Boser at Webguerilla.Com
$1,000 - Mike Grehan at MikeGrehan.Com
$1,000 - Todd Friesen at Oilman.ca
Bruce Stone threw out $1000 and he can't get link love? I don't get that.

So it's because he's not linked to someone not bad neighbourhoods?

I can't answer for Alek but is it more likely its because he's linked to sites opposed to the V7N competition - are these the bad neighbourhoods?

Should be a mute point now Darren as John has removed the V7N homepage links.

I ain't asking anybody to link to me, but the other sponsors put money out there and credit should go where it's due. To be entirely honest, his linking there says "I'm a schmuck".

Now it is too late for any actions on the contest with around 24 hours left.

IF it happens that I come #1 and win this contest I will send a certain, yet undecided, amount of the prize money to alek for the celiac research.

It is a noble act of Alek and Scott to do so. I wanted to to give my best shot at this contest without any benefit of charity motives and now when it's pretty much over I can say this.

That's cool of you Jim, I never really wanted it featured as a motive for anything, perhaps I should have kept quiet about it in reflection, however what's done is done, so best of luck.

Thanks Jim. BTW, as noted in V-E FAQ, any prize money should be donated directly to the University of Maryland Center for Celiac Research rather than via me - i.e. I never see/touch the money. The CFCR can accept online credit card donations and checks, but does not have a PayPal account - yes, I have suggested they get one ... ;-)

And while we have another 24 hours to go (and it ain't over until it is over!), Google's results have been the most stable I have ever seen with the top-6 unchanged in the last day+ on all datacenters and API tools and John's observations ... almost makes me wonder if there is a hand job going on (?)

Very honorable and noble acts all the way 'till the end Jim; you're worthy of respect for sure - well done all around!

Some people are reporting me as back to the number #1 spot.

But I can't see it

Can we delay the contest end just a little bit? (joking)

It seems like that one is the latest updated one by looking at the cache dates, hope I am not wrong.

This will be a photoshot and John is the judge ...

Yep, that one does it for you for sure, strange looking results on it though, most genre's I search show disproportionate amounts of indented listings, but it certainly shows the shift back to you.
