This just in, very reliable sources.
About 20 minutes ago in Mountain View CA at the Googleplex, Matt Cutts, breathless and panting from running, evidently barged into a board meeting where Sergey Brin and Lawrence Page where, and blurted out, "Links! They're using anchor text links!"
Our secret is out guys, and frankly, I don't know where we'll go from here.

In case anybody is confused, SEO's don't rank sites. Google ranks them, according to their algorithm, which they are intimately familiar with, because they wrote it.
Google knows the techniques SEO's use. They will learn nothing from this contest.

Yup. It's amusing that somebody could think that Google is not aware of every single SEO tactic used. They are aware of the tactics available to use before we are - it's their algo.

That whole mentality is so weird. Google doesn't need some seos to stick up for them. Sure, Google is upset over having their results tainted a little bit, but all in all: what doesn't kill them will make them stronger!

I'm sure 99% of their employees have no idea there is such a thing. There's 1% who are as much aware of it as the entire SEO community, and I'm sure DO care about the insights and information that can be disseminated from it.
Nothin' personal, just think SEO contests are not a great idea for several reasons (unless you're doin' the promotion for 'em)...just my 
No offense meant by the haikus...just think there are better ideas out there yet to be explored...good luck with your contest John.
