If one sees: (as I do today)
#1: www.v7ndotcomelursrebmem.org
#2: www.v7ndotcomelursrebmem..net
#3: www.v7ndotcomelursrebmem..com
#4. www.v7ndotcomelursrebmem..co.uk
Can one possibly make the argument that Google does not give preference to .org, as well as to a domain name that exactly matches the query?
This is not good news for someone like me, who has to deal with clients who already have an established domain name which is NOT
"Client's Number One Keyword".org
But with hundreds of thousands of pages indexed - many of which were created by knowledgable SEO professionals, it seems that domain name/tld has an incontrovertible positive impact on ranking.
Thoughts?

I don't think hyphens or being .com/.net are keeping any site away from being #1 at all. In the Redscowl Bluesingsky results, I'm #1 and I got a hyphen, and I'm .net. You just have to know how to get to the top better than every one else does!

I just think it's too much of a coincidence that said sites are all 1/2/3/4.
I am using this as a sort of experiment of my own - limiting myself to things I would do for clients. I am strictly "high end" and I don't knowingly use any tactics that could be potentially harmful to my clients. Thus I have no expectation of coming out number one in this contest. There are still plenty of ways to "game" search engine results, and that's fine. But to me, the trust that is required to promote a long-term relationship with my clients is much more important.
BTW - does this forum allow signature link spam?

More like going up. It's up to 262,000 results depending on the data center.

For a short moment I saw the same crazy numbers when searching from Google.se. I posted a screen shot in another thread.

If the French win I will probably have to go to Paris and hand deliver the money.
(Business expense, ya know.)

Looking thru the results is fun. Look at this cracker: http://www.v7n.be/ lol (.be domains are free and obviously not all the better ones are taken)
