seo contest charity scam
<venting>
I wont mention his name and or give him a free link, but some of you know who I am talking about when I mention there's a certain contestant who claims they'll give their winnigns to charity.
Well, I just want to voice my opinion and say yes it is a genius idea, and yes it isnt against the rules, and yes I am mainly just venting BUT - what a scam dude, ok the odds are he probably wont give it to chairty, on the other hands if he does what is the point?
This is a seo contest, not lets-scam-people-by-telling-them-its-a-charity

Dude,
Why do you think it's a scam?
Are you forgetting who has the money? (C'est moi.)
If that entry wins, the money goes directly to the charity.

Well, you could use the charity card, but if you're going to, use the charity card with a charity that has PR9 or so, and is willing to let you host the entry page on their domain.
www.give.org
www.thehungersite.com
Lots of PR8's out there....

If it's who I think you mean, I believe his daughter has an illness and that is the charity he will be giving to.
Considering the fact that he was selling links for donations to that charity not long ago, I'd say it's for real. He didn't want the money... just proof that a donation was made.
Also, it's not a well-known or "glamorous" illness. I had never heard of it before.
It is better to learn all you can about a "scam" before you say it's a scam, huh?

I think Hulkster's offer is genuine, but webmasters become wary of anyone who drops links to his site with the regularity that Hulkster does.
I have expressed reservations about Hulkster's approach before, but I believe the end result of him winning would be good. My only reservations were regarding his failure to take a more obvious position in regard to the tag-along gang. I am, as most people know, a guy who sees things in black and white, and even now I can't for the life of me figure out where Hulkster stands on the Three Stooges.
But does it really matter? If he wins the money goes to charity. How can that be bad?

I really believe he is sincere with the charity, but I don't know anyone who is such a forum spammer as Hulkster to be honest, the past years I see him only drop in to advertise his lightbulbs, barbeque and whatnot. When I see a post from Hulkster they usually contain keywords that are linked to his site.
Hulster is a serious forum spammer, but I do not think he is a fraud.

True, Ferre, and well said.
The thing that really matters to me is, this money could go to help sick people. That would be awesome. I wish all contestants would give the money to charity.
Most people aren't competing for the money anyway - they are competing for the traffic.

If it is the same person and his daughter is unwell, then that comment can only hurt the guy.
If the person in question is trying to swing the odd vote/link here and there by doing this, where's the issue?
I am not going in for it but if I did, I would also give it to charity and if I used that card and kept my word then that can only be good for me to win and also good for the charity. Everyone wins.

Yes, I also must add to this conversation that I really think that charity is a much better argument for spamming forums than frikkin barbeque lights.

Hulkster,
We'll see how it goes, and even if you don't place 1st, I'm sure V7N will make a generous donation to the CFCR.
You might want to get the others to commit to it as well - it is for charity after all.
