Rotate categories?

I always hear people say that you should change your anchor text. My question is how does rotating your category in directories affect your ranking?

If your site could be placed in several categoties, should you rotate categories?

you want cocitation data to put you near related sites

and if the directory is worth being listed in they should only let you list your site in a limited category set.

there are a variety of factors to consider with directories, but
-direct traffic
-being in search indexes
-will the link itself count in engines? (CMS issues, content quality issues - is it a known link spammer that sells run of site viagra links or does it list anyone that will give them $10 with no focus on quality of content, etc)
-if the link may count look aother sites listed in your category you want to submit to (your co citation data), and quality of links pointing at the directory
would be the biggest I would be looking at.

keep in mind that it does not have to have all of those to have value.

What I want to know is if you have a site about, lets say; html tutorials, css turorials, PS turorials, and other related topics. Would you place it in one of the following topics: beginner guides, webmaster resources, html, css, web design, tutorials; or would you rotate it thru them, picking a different topic for each directory? So in Dir A ,beginners guides; and in Dir B, webmaster resources; and in Dir C, web design; or would you keep it in tutorials for all directories submitted to?

you want links to point at your most relevant pages.

sometimes get deeplinks at your css bit from a css page.

sometimes get homepage links in one of the other categories.

also you may really want to focus on top quality in one area and market the hell out of it, instead of spreading yourself thin on the whole web space...there is a lot of code out there, you know
