High. Eye em noo.
I stumbled upon this site through Google, and I'm not sure why it grabbed my interest with such immediacy. I guess I just enjoy stirring things up, because that's exactly why I'm here. In terms of the balance between business folks and technical experts among the contributors to the forums, I was struck by an overwhelming tilt away from ideas shared by people with a background such as myself.
There seems to be an abundance of business-oriented chatter and a shortage of real-world experienced developers with any true insight on human-machine interaction. Plenty of amateurish types stranded somewhere in between, as well. The distribution of volume is fine, but keep in mind that lesser in number does not always mean lesser in capability and expertise.
Such has always been the case in the real world too, and that frustrates me. Business users demand all sorts of wacky behavior from their Internet applications these days, and the technical resources generally tend to give them what they want. I guess one reason for this is the fact that most of the nerds out there making websites are lower on the corporate ladder than the business clients. But I think another part of it has to do with division of responsibility, and the tendency for customers not to respect the expertise of their technical resources. Do your job, and let me do mine. That's all.
Anyway sorry for the rant; I suppose I will be posting in the Web Development forums more often then not, so, see you there.
