Question Relavite or Absolute Links In Page Text?

I typically use common navigation, I normally use keyworded text links and make them absolute links.

But, what about text links that are on page, within the text copy, that link to an internal page that is already a text link in the navigation?

Any benefit to making on page links to internal pages absolute links?

What if your on page text link is the secondary term for the internal page your linking to?

Anyone certain of a benefit there?

Hope I splained my question good?
Thanks
Frank

I don't think that using absolute or relative links, will make any difference for search engines. All relative links are converted to absolute ones by the bots, in my opinion...

Absolute urls are best. They work if a page is downloaded, and cause fewer problems with bots. This is especially true when a base url is used in the document. Some bots will see the relative url as dir/page.html when it really is ../../ dir/page.html. Usually urls are considered relative to the document. The base tag tell the browser diferently. This problem is particuly true of poorly made bots. Look in your server logs and see how things work when using relative urls.

If you go to www.v7n.com and mouse-over any internal link there, it will show the full URL. You won't be able to tell whether it's absolute or relative - and that's what search engines see.

However, I do use absolute URL's in v7n, for the most part. I do that because I didn't want the non-www version indexed.
