Google Alert Exclusions ??

I Have an alert for a specific Geographical area.
I get too many Alerts for real estate in that area
I tried to remove real estate from the equation with a (-) minus. NO LUCK
How does one make an exception with Google Alert
Thanks

What if you fine tuned the volume:
Quote:
Set the volume
The "volume" setting determines how many results you see in each alert. In the default setting, "Only the best results," Google Alerts tries to filter the results so that they are relevant to your query and high quality. If you select "All results," you'll receive all the results that Google Alerts finds for your search terms, without any filtering to remove results which are low quality or less relevant.

Or the sources?

Yes you can unsubscribe if you have created Google Alerts in your Google Account.

Not very useful

I read that too.

So I presume there is no way to exclude a word from a phrase using a (-) minus like in a google search. You would think.

Oh Gosh,

Oh Gosh, thought I was clear
I want an alert on a city and town: "Wilson New York"
But I dont want any alert with the word "Real Estate in the content.

QUESTION again: Does the minus (-) sign I use for a google search work in the alert formulation,

Wilson New York - Real Estate
