John,
I completely understand that the copying of content (if used for my own advantage) and to use that content is DEFINITELY WRONG. I will say again - I haven't done that, and I will NOT DO THAT. I have not linked in that copy of his site, and I will not do so. I AM going to enter something myself and I WILL continue to copy the code of the other contestants for offline browsing.
On me having a temper - yes, I get angry about being "wronged". I'll admit that, however, I don't attempt one communication and then descend into muckery and mud slinging, let alone profanities and hurling of abuse - I might have once - and we probably all would have before we grew into the well rounded individuals we are now (if the hat fits, wear it). I like to think that I have grown into a much bigger person than I once was. Perhaps it comes with age, perhaps experience - I don't know... I am sure that I would not handle a similar manner in this manner.
On how I handle content theft (and yes, people steal our content regularly) - - we have an established procedure for handling that. We most certainly don't barrage the "offender" with expletives - this is NOT a professional way to handle it. As to HOW we handle it - let us just say that after polite emails and mailed letters, the ISP/carrier, attorney's letters, and then finally attornies themselves are involved. It doesn't often reach the last stage, as the tried and tested methods get results well before it gets expensive. At no stage do we resort to swearing and dirty tricks. On several occasions I have offered to come and do the work of removal in person. We're nothing if not helpful when practical to do so!
My comments were concerning the professionalism, or complete lack of it... on the pages themselves, they HAVE been removed, and I won't put them back up, but the torrent of abuse isn't the reason for that. Today I'll roll out my own entries, and I simply don't need to be distracted by the time and effort needed to even respond beyond this post.
So - to sum up, I'm not sorry about copying g00gl3r's page, I won't apologise for it, and for it not to be recognized as a benefit to them shows me how ridiculous the tirade really is.
I'm not going to say that it won't happen again (copying other people's content onto my test servers), and I am certainly going to be analysing the content of EACH of the top sites, probably at least weekly. What I won't do, is put them on PUBLICLY available url's again, because it's simply not worth dealing with the childish rants.
regards
Greg
ps - if someone takes our site content - we'll start the procedure!

I wouldn't like anyone to think that being EU based would help - UK especially... I *AM* British, and we have the same procedure in place each of the EU member countries! If help removing content is required, I'll send round someone locally if need be... or wait til I'm back visiting again...
