Page Speed - Check Your Page With Google

With factors such as page speed, navigability, and overall user experience becoming an important part of SEO, I thought it would be helpful to reference Google's Page Speed Online checker over at Google Labs:

http://pagespeed.googlelabs.com/

This handy tool rates any page you point it to and spits back a speed rating score out of 100. If you don't score well, not to worry, Google being the benevolent sentient being that it is, outlines exactly how you can improve and even gives these suggestions a weighted importance. More work, have fun!

The page ---------------------- got an overall Page Speed Score of 81 (out of 100).
The page ---------------------- got an overall Page Speed Score of 93 (out of 100).

Don't want to be called a shameless promoter hence I removed my sites out. Well anyway, I always though my sites load very slow. Google definitely explained WHY.

Thanks for the share!

The apache module for page speed, if configured correctly, can definately make an impact on the load time of your site.

The speed at which your web page(s) load has always played a part in the success of a website or blog. If your website or blog loads slowly, the visitor will just leave. Web surfing people are very impatient. It doesn’t matter how they are accessing your site, if it’s slow you are not going to make that sale, have a reader added to your blog, have the visitor spread the word for you by word of mouth or get bookmarked on any of the social networking sites.

Now, because Google announced that web page download speed plays a part in your positioning in the search results everyone is on the band wagon to improve the download speed of websites and blogs. Don’t figure. It takes Google to watch something for people to pay attention they should have been doing in the first place.

does this include how fast your page actually uploads the information on your site when someone for example goes to the home page?

If it's not (or going to be in the future), then why is Google putting this tool out there? Also remember, they have been experimenting with Google Instant, I would think page speed would be factor in that algorithm.

I did not check the effect on ranking, but I think it will improve the search experience for the user. Now, companies will try to do a quick site is good for people with slow internet. This change will help boost the Internet more accessible.

Page Speed Service - Web Performance, Delivered.

Since we on the topic of page speed, i might as well let you all know about this new service. I did not get a chance to read it yet but posting it here now before i log off tonight.

Quote:
Two years ago we released the Page Speed browser extension and earlier this year the Page Speed Online API to provide developers with specific suggestions to make their web pages faster. Last year we released mod_pagespeed, an Apache module, to automatically rewrite web pages. To further simplify the life of webmasters and to avoid the hassles of installation, today we are releasing the latest addition to the Page Speed family: Page Speed Service.

Page Speed Service is an online service that automatically speeds up loading of your web pages. To use the service, you need to sign up and point your siteís DNS entry to Google. Page Speed Service fetches content from your servers, rewrites your pages by applying web performance best practices, and serves them to end users via Google's servers across the globe. Your users will continue to access your site just as they did before, only with faster load times. Now you donít have to worry about concatenating CSS, compressing images, caching, gzipping resources or other web performance best practices.

In our testing we have seen speed improvements of...

One of my site get 36 out of 100 score when I checked through Google's page speed online site. So, I think it's right if site take more time to open then the user will leave our site. It may be one of the reason that my site not get more traffic. This tool become helpful for me.

Many business site at Home is a big Flash+ pictures of space, such a framework is not easy to be identified in the search engines, and the time for customers accessing your pages really need to see your Flash? The answer is, of course, no?

This is really useful feature provided by Google. Thanks
