Question Text Link Ads, PageRank & Yahoo

One of my pages is lagging in the Google and Yahoo SERPS. I'm about to buy three text link ads. Two of them are from PR6 sites. They're both going to be pointing to:

http://www.preciousbedding.com/olymp...eets-c-28.html

The page with the "Olympic Queen Sheets" link is coming from a PR6 gamer's cheat-sheet page that has the word "sheet" written on it 100 times. The "Olympic Queen Bedding" link will be coming from a PR6 page that is covering news about the olympics, so it has the word "olympic" on it alot.

I'm also buying a PR4 link that's going to point to my main domain. That's also going to have the phrase "Olympic Queen Sheets" and is coming from another page with info about the Olympics.

So here's my questions:

How much should these links help me?

Is it going to help that the links are coming from the "Olympics" and "Cheat Sheet" pages instead of some page that's not related at all?

Does Yahoo have a system like PageRank for factoring the importance of a page and the importance of a link?

I also just bought a PR5 from another Olympics site too. All this has costed me $155... We'll see how it does.

Yep yahoo uses a kind of pagerank, you can know your yahoo webrank on the dp main site at : Digital Point Yahoo WebRank
But i don't know may be im not normal but i really dont like the idea of buying link from other sites just to get popularity... what happens if you cant pay anymore?
A good partnership is far way better... IMHO

That yahoo webrank tool is a piece of crap.

$150 a month really isn't too bad. I DO like the idea of buying links. When your PR is low, it's hard to get sites with decent PRs to link to you. Especially ones that don't have 10000000 links on the same page that will dilute the PageRank down to null. Plus, I'm sandboxed. If I can't pay anymore, I'm obviously horrible at business and shouldn't be in business in the first place.

I doubt that a few links will make that much of an impact. When I do a link building campaign, I try to get hundreds of links, not two or three. And PageRank really isn't one of my big priorities. I prefer relevancy and links that actually drive qualified traffic.

I just bought 3 more:

One from a PR4 pointing to my main domain.

One from a PR5 pointing to my Olympic Queen sheets page.

One from a PR7 pointing to my main domain.

My site shot up 96 spots in the rankings today and I doubt Google has found all the links so far. All of the pages are relevant.

Looking at your site, domain age and too much emphasis on the the relevant link building etc, I think this is not enough and expected result will not come specially in Google.Google has got fantastic ranking alogrithm.Overnight rise

In addition to link building there are many other department of SEO which need to address.Just putting too much emphasis on linking for higher pager rank is not useful. I have seen many sites with page rank of 4/5 but with fantastic ranking.

What you need is a structured work over the period of time .Do not forget that your domain is very new from the point of view of google.

Agreed for the most part. I'm pretty sure I'm sandboxed. I'd still like to rank good on Yahoo though.

Any specifics on what other areas I need to work on? I feel like I've done so much.

That's partly why I haven't worried about building links too fast. I figure, by the time I'm out of the sandbox for my domain age, I'll be out of the sandbox for getting too many links up in too short a time too.

I've heard Google may use the age of the links as a factor also. I'm planning on keeping these links atleast until September (hopefully I'll get out of the sandbox around then). Google might reward me for that.

How long does google think a link is old and reliable? 6 months? 1 year? 2 years?

Not sure. I think 6 months is probably pretty good. A year -- probably better.

Exactly. That's why I come to this forum.

I've found that it depends on the other factors of the link. Is it on a good site w/ quality, unique content? Is it relevant? Is it just an anchor text link, or is there content surrounding the link? The higher quality links seem to take much less time to "prove" its value to Google than a link that's burried on some random links page or stuck amongst other irrelevant ads of website owners who pay for links at the bottom of off-topic sites.
