anchor text links with more than one keyword
I have been doing this for quite some time, at least 2 years, before I knew better actually and discovered, unofficially and totally by accident, that not only can it work to break a new term into rankings, it works even better if I do it in the following manner.
My keywords are in a specific order I create based off of frequency of search level of competition, etc. the usual approach for determing keywords we use, nothing new there, but,
When I use multiple keywords as you demonstrated I use them in my predefined order with the hardest to rank for/most desired first and so on.
Ex:
#1 term = Widgets
#2 term = Red Widgets
#3 term = Red Polished Widgets
I start with using #3.
The eaiser #3 word will do better first, then the smaller two word #2, etc.
Anyway, I noticed that a long time ago like I said by accident.
In fact, I will often use it to break into a more competitive set of terms, the longer less competitive #3 gets picked up first then after time it seems to bring the more competitive #2 then finally the #1 up.
I say "seems to" because I cant say I have a documented experiment I can point to or share, but I have had it work that way for me for some time now, I still do it and have seen it work too many times for it to not have something going for it.
By the way, if possible, I use the same approach, rather I use it as the same time for any IBL's I can get, then as the 3 word term is successful I then go for the two word IBL, etc.
Hopefully I explained that well and it made some sense?
