Is it possible to know how many times/day a keyword has been searched on Google?
Looking for a site or program that can show me how many times/day a keyword has been searched on Google.
Why? Because I want to know what keywords I should concentrate on when making my website. I'd of course want to have the most searched keywords, which is understandable...
Does anybody know anything for this?

The best way to research keywords is to create an Adsense account and sponsor hundreds of keywords - it'll tell you how many times a day the keyword are searched, how many click thorughs and it will suggest relevant keywords.

Google do not divulge this infomation, it would be nice. Like John says the best way is through Google Adsense. I personally use PPC bid reporter, it dosen't give you Google serches but Overture, you can garuntee Google has more traffic, but the top Phrases in overture will be the top phrases in Google.

LOL this my not sound right to some of you lot but its always worked well for me, this is what i do
I use Overture keywords and see what gets searched the most in that month for the subject i want, then i times that by 3 and that should be around what it gets searched in google the only problem is that you cant do days you could divide it but it wouldnt be spot on but can be close
so say
1000 searches in Overture
X
3
= 3000 in google

Try this tool:
http://www.seotoolset.com/cgi-bin/checktraffic.cgi
You get keyword search results per day in Google, Yahoo, MSN etc.
For eg. I searched for the keywords 'advance loan' and I get:
advance loan Activity (Estimated): 628 web-wide search engine queries per day
Google = 308 AOL = 32 AmazonA9 = 6 Yahoo Index = 141 Inktomi = 6
Alta Vista = 6 MSN = 83 Teoma = 13 Ask Jeeves = 13 Hot Bot = 6 IWon = 6 Lycos = 6
The interesting thing about this tool is you can find out how many times a particular domain name was searched for in the SE's. For eg. I searched for ElvisPresley.com and I got the following results:
elvispresley.com Activity (Estimated): 117 web-wide search engine queries per day
Google = 57 AOL = 6 AmazonA9 = 1 Yahoo Index = 26 Inktomi = 1
Alta Vista = 1 MSN = 16 Teoma = 2 Ask Jeeves = 2 Hot Bot = 1 IWon = 1 Lycos = 1

Is that valid? I feel the daily search number is rather too little

Doesn't the Google Toolbar offer some of this functionality as well?
I use Firefox, so I don't use the Google Toolbar myself; however, I recall reading somewhere that if you type a keyword into the toolbar, it will display the number of searches that have been performed for that keyword.
Might be worth checking out.

IMHO, what matters is the "relative" number of clicks aas opposed tot he actual number. If you are evaluating which words to target, the actual number is far less important...
I do agree with John that if you need more precise figures, Adwords in the way to go.

Overture listings are wack for traffic estimations. The high value keywords are blown totally out of proportion by keyword checkers, the phrases are not listed properly, and plurals are stemmed.
Overture has uses but traffic estimation is notone of them.
Use word tracker, keyword intelligence, or create your own keyword scraper.

Overture is IMO next to worthless. I think it may be due to automated queries, but to say it's "whack" is to put it nicely.
And Overture makes everything singular, which really can be misleading. And it does other gay stuff. Like if you put in "webmaster forum" it gives:
which is worthless. Nobody searches for "web master forum".
And what an SEO really wants to know is, do they search for "Webmaster Forum" or "Webmaster Forums".

For example, the tool confirms that keyword1 has more searches than keyword2, which has more searches than keyword3, etc. However, our account is capped at USD $20 per day so, once our daily maximum has been reached, the ad disappears. Google seems to stagger its appearance throughout the day anyhow (not visible 8 am - 12pm, then back on, then off, then on, etc. Not sure how they schedule it so that it appears in several time zones throughout the day).
In any case, if you have an AdSense account that doesn't reach its maximum, perhaps you could post back to this thread and let the rest of us know how accurate this tool is.
Regards,
Duncan

It isn't accurate. It's just an estimator.
