Do search engines discount your website if they notice an affiliate link like those from commission junction?

I am wondering this myself and currently looking into if I should perform SEO on affiliate links like using anchor tags etc.

Anyone know about this stuff?

Yes it will use CJ link but think about it logically. YOUR site only gets one link and CJ get hundreds (or more depending on how many times the link is used).

where did you learned of this matter? i think it's another pr stunt. imho it's just another referral link, not a real content.

Not discount, just not count. Affiliate links do not pass link juice for the most part.

I think Affliliate links influence your ranking, for better or worse. If all your affiliate network sites' links are of high quality and adhere to search engines' rules and the links appear slowly over some reasonable amount of time period, your network will most likely perform well.

I do see some affiliate links showing up as backlinks on yahoo, but I've never seen it on Google.

that's just not fair affiliate links are not content, they're content from the originating site but it's not yours. however if you make like redirects with "follow, index" it gets crawled. but worst case scenario what if the originating company closed down? what will happen to your so called content then?

I see some other webmasters complaining that msn is indexing cj affiliate links as well. I don't understand why certain affiliate links are indexed and not others. In any case, this can't be a good sign for msn's search algorithm.
