PDF Documents, Search Engines and SEO

Hi Everyone,

....does anyone have some resources to turn to about PDF documents being search indexed by searchbots? We have found odds and ends on this subject, but I cannot say that there has been any consistency in the information.

Any feedback on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any specific questions on the topic? Google does fine with PDF files.

google will translate most of your documents from whatever format they are in to html and index them. I know it works for pdf, word, excel, flash, and a few others. If I am not mistaken msn has something similar, and yahoo incorporated overture's when they bought them out a few years ago. So all your random documents will be indexed anyway, don't worry about it. Again just the evolution of searches.

I don't have official documentation but many of my clients that have PDF files. Those documents seem to out perform many of their html documents in SERPS.
