How can I get my site from position nr. 50 in "MSN Search" to 1st page again?

My site: http://www.smilies.name

Note - It was always ranked nr. 5 (keyword: smilies) in "MSN Search" for several months, but since January it lost it's high position within MSN Search!

How can I get back my 1st page ranking for keyword "smilies"?

1. Do I need to add more quantity & quality back links? Which one is more important for "MSN Search"?

2. Maybe I should changing around text of "title & Hx" of my site a little bit?
Though both have already my main keyword "smilies" inside!

3. Adding more to content like my main keyword "smilies"?
PS - When I check density now it shows 15.56 & 21 times repeat, that should be high enough/fine, correct?

4. Maybe adding synoniem keywords to my content will give a boost, like: smileys, emoticons, etc.?

5. Or adding content which is more close related to my main keyword "smilies" in order to get the job done:
animated smilies, free smilies, msn smilies, yahoo smilies, funny smilies, aim smilies, etc. (keyword tool)

What is your opinion or suggestion what to change to my site in order to improve rankings? Maybe you would like to add some techniques I can use to get better rankings?

I'm guessing anchor text links would help the most.

getting more quality backlinks helps usually.
kewords should be at the beginning of your title, hx etc..for better results. do it if you have not done it already.

Use sitewide links to the page on a few domains. Your own or others. MSN does not care about IP-ranges or anything else. Just do as many links as possible. Recip links are fine. Heck, anything is fine with them.

Funny - but it's true.

I have co-op network links pointing to my travel rants site and in MSN SERPs it's kicking arse. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of Google and Yahoo, but it's having some impact.

That would explain why I've always done well with MSN then!..
But How do you get listed in Yahoo.com? I've been able to get listed in Google for some semi-competative keywords, but yahoo is elusive.

You want me to link for example from my site smilies.name index page to my other sites or to someone else sites (= outgoing links) or maybe to link to different pages within my site smilies.name?

Sitewide links is just a link that show on every page of a site. Most generally in the footer, and on sites with lots of pages like forums, but could be pretty much any site.

Yes MSN seems to like any sort of links. Forum signature links are good.

My opinion is that MSN loves new websites... But if it notices a website is on pause, and not moving or not changing its content or not getting backward links, perhaps it starts to drop your website down in its SERPS.

I also follow others opinions that getting backlinks to your website as much as possible helps you to keep your MSN ranking

So get more backlinks :p

It's not a stupid question if you're new to SEO.

Well it uses a PHP Script which links to other websites (which is followed by Google, since the links ARE shown in the HTML Code) and you are given points according to:

• Number of Pages Indexed by Google WITH Co-Op on those pages
• The Value (PR) of your website in Google

And the higher your points are, the more websites will link to you. Here are the two leading Co-Op Advertising Websites:

MSN is easy to break without trying i got to number 7 this was with no intentional work on targeting msn i did the basic Alt tags, image tages, h1 tags and meta title and keyowrd tags and got to pos 7
