This thread reminds me of back in the day when my first site won every award that I applied to. I couldn't believe it. I put up every single one of those awards until they outnumbered actual content.

Imagine my dissapointment when I started learning a bit of SEO and found out I was linking to every bad neighborhood out there.

Now I just laugh everytime I see a site that has every bogus award under the sun listed on their site, complete with an active link of course.

I must admit that I did that once too. I was overjoyed at actually winning it, until I realized that everybody wins.

web design awards are good for impressing clients but I do not think it will help with getting links. imo
