wordpress.org for the simple fact that you own it. No one can take away your work contrary to wordpress.com or blogger.

Wordpress self hosted is the best solution where you can get many SEO optimized premium themes.

Obviously wordpress is more powerful Content management system while comparing to the blogger. And you see, blogger is very easy to use and where wordpress is bit tough to deal (need to by a hosting if we want to host our own template and domain name, where buying something is not possible for everyone).

Blogger, would be easy to use (creating a blog with own template without buying an hosting/server space).

I've tried both systems, i would preferred to use blogger (because it is enough for my needs). So, just give a try on both and compare them and decide where to stand by.

I have to agree after using it for a while that Wordpress self-hosted is the way to go.

It has been a bit more of a learning curve, but I think that's partially because you can do a lot more with it.

I do like the Yoast plugins.

And I have much more control over quite a few aspects of my blog, many of which are important to SEO. I'm also enjoying the fact that I can strip URLs from comments when it's appropriate.

I would stick to blogger. Don't know why, I started a blog on wordpress, but it was hard when I bought a domain to connect it with the blog.. (maybe because I already knew how to do it in blogger)

I haven't used Blogger so I can't comment on that. From a SEO perspective, I think wordpress is great. I use Michael Torbert's "All In One SEO" plugin and I got great results from it. A lot of people seem to like woothemes.com/videos - where they have some good videos on how to tackle some of the technical issues with their templates. Hope that helps!

Most webhosts now have a one click option to install WordPress on your domain.

HostGator does if you don't want to manually install wordpress on your domain.

Since I've been using these 2 blogging platforms for a while, here's my observation:

*Design/Templates -it is easier with Wordpress
*Widgets/Plug ins/Buttons - both platforms offer easy-to-add plugins, but Wordpress has a lot of customized ones available
*Indexing and Crawling rate - same level
*Ranking - same level (depending on the optimization)
*Spam comments - More automated spam comments are posted on Wordpress

**again these are based on my observation you might have a different experience with Wordpress & Blogger

I have always preferred wordpress. I have seen my posts are visible on first post very quickly, from wordpress blog. But I had to wait much for a blogger posting. It may be my personal experience but now I focus only wordpress. What other friends say?

Wordpress is a very powerful platform to build both blogs and regular websites and that is mainly due to the large number of plugins which give Wordpress high functionality options. Of course I have to agree that the best way to go is buy a domain and keep your blog there. Wordpress.com has other uses.
