Internal duplicate links

Hi,

I was just wondering if having duplicate links on a page matters enough to warrant adding nofollow to the duplicates or does it not really matter?

For example I have loads of sub-category pages and each category has a head tag as a link, a picture as a link (and potentially a third click for details link) - all pointing to the same page.

I was also wondering if nesting a link in a heading tag affects the way a search engine will value the heading tag? Like <h2><a href="...">Header Text</a></h2>. Would it be better off leaving the heading tag alone?

Many thanks

it possibly could be looked at differently - why would you link out of a heading?

in an example of one of sites, the heading is the site name. clicking it will bring you back to the homepage. that is an <h1> tag with a link.

If you are targeting google then offsite linking matters more. Links to your internal pages onsite is greatly being devaluated now, no matter how your link to them, H1 or not. Y! has followed this step and only MSN still counts them as a ranking factor. Try to link to those pages from other sites and google will soon pick them as being the most important for the serps. Internal pages get ranked easier with offsite incoming links than the homepage with all factors set equal. Just an observation i've been making for quite a while now.
