Yep, these will probably still work, especially now that Google's really into quality judging by the updates that they've released. About the guest posting, before you actually go for it, I suggest that you build your reputation first. It's going to be a lot easier for the site owners to approve your work if you've already built a reputation in your respective niche.

Try the formatting technique. It's spinning the article with authority links, pictures and videos and posting it to high quality blog sites (wordpress, blogger, etc.). Also doing manual blog commenting on high pr sites is a trend these days.

Forum signatures don't really work much anymore in terms of ranking. Forums have been terribly devalued long ago, after Xrummer exploited the heck out of forum links.

Youtube marketing, forum posting, and blog commenting are new ways to increase traffic to your site.

I don't think that forum posting and blog commenting can be considered as being new for 2012, they have both been around for years. Youtube has possibilities
but just sticking a slideshow on there isn't likely to give good results, it does need to be something that genuinely appeals to people.

A backlink from Youtube is VERY powerful, especially if it's in the description of a video that went viral.

1. Content is king
2. Google+ website pages and profiles and good amount of google +1's can enhance rankings

Umm good luck with taking a long time to rank. Forum posting isn't really as effective as before, and article directories have been greatly devalued.
