Strange Lack of Traffic...
Greetings,
I have been working on a car donation resource site http://www.car-donations.us.
It is still a work in progress, but it has managed to creep onto the first page of search results on yahoo and msn for the keyword "car donation".
Despite this, I seem to get only 10-20 visitors a day. This seems very odd considering overture reported searches of ~ 275,000/month for "car donation".
Is it simply my listing looks unapealing? Are there any potential technical problems or traffic diversion issues I should be thinking of?
I am fairly new to website construction, but this seems very odd given my experience with other sites.
Thanks for any insight

"car donations" is searched no more than 200 times a day according to my keyword tools. Your stats of 20 visitors a day from both Y! and MSN taking into account their market share is very normal. It's a totally crazy idea to rely solely on overture stats eAudible. It's really that unreliable.
Plus, where is the logic behind your ranks. A few weeks old website ranking in the top 10 serps for a keyword searched ~ 275,000/month? If you've spotted this niche, old timers would have spotted it years ago and saturate it.

Thanks for the feedback.
Do you have any keyword tools you would recommend?
And just for the record, the site is almost 2 years old.
Thanks for your comments.

I kind of fail to see a logic in that phrase.
Belive it or not, not everything has been discovered yet.

Oh yea?
lol, I don't believe you, but hey, since you seem so experienced in this trade, just point to me a *hot niche market with at least 2000 searches a day (that's what i call a hot market) with less that a million competitors and i'll give you a PR7 link from one of my sites.
On the other hand, If you fail to do so, i would have to assume that you have no logic at all by making such a bold statement as "not everything has been discovered yet" when more than 50 million niche marketers research a new market every day online, for more than 5 years now.
*hot niche market - a market where people are looking for something to buy, a service or product. Not free information.

I have to agree with Ashvin here. I think the Overture tool is not the most accurate tool either. Your best bet would be to track impressions using a Google adwords campain. If you are using Google Adwords. Otherwise just use Overture as an idea of what search phrase is more popular than another. I use DPs keyword suggestion tool.

I just checked overture for "car donation" and it reports the, 276,392. Very cool. However, the majority of your SE type traffic will probably come from Google. Ranking well in MSN is really pretty easy, and Yahoo isn't far behind it. But I didn't pull you site within the first 4 pages of Google for that same term.
It's wierd. One of my sites ranks VERY well on MSN and Yahoo for some terrific (IMO) keywords but see's virtually no traffic there. Instead, my forum members found my site by using "keyword tail" type searches on Google... lol.
I guess my point is just that Google's search traffic is so overwhelming larger than the other SE's that even my crappy search terms that rank well in Google result in more traffic than A+ search terms that rank #1 in MSN.

We are luxury custom home builders Fords Colony Builders, I am targetting some of the local golf course communities, I rank well for these neighbourhood keywords, I would like to know if there is any way I can check the traffic(low traffic) specific to my website.

Let me tell you about the Overture tool: it totally SUCKS.
I have about 3 keywords, for which i rank from #1 to #4, with Overture saying about 300.000 searches month, for each of them.
I don't get even 1500/month from those searches. Google, MSN and Yahoo combined.
So screw it.
