You're right! Bad wording on my part. I've done loads of no-follow links, in fact, most of my links are no-follow, FB, YouTube, Flickr, etc. etc. and now I'm spending time balancing that with do-follows.

At least I'm trying. Not easy anymore.

The most important thing is having good content and search engine will follow your blog then. Commenting on Do-follow blogs will help you getting backlinks and also traffic but comment should be genuine one.

Forums are used for interactions and solving problems or getting help. You should concentrate on overall seo of your website to get on first page.

For me they are both effective. Forum and blog commenting helps in SEO by building links and increasing traffic on website.

Yes dear blog commenting is very important part of seo and it is the method of getting traffic to your site and backlinks for your site but before commenting post comments in those sites which are relevant to your site and before commenting read blogs and then comment on them.

Yeah and do the same with forums. Because no one really cares if you rewrite the answer the last guy wrote

Yes blog commenting is always effective as long as we use high quality and relevant sources for commenting.

basing on my experience, yes it is. blog commenting is useful and can add traffics too. but it would took you a lot of time and effort before you can achieve such output.

You need to wait days or even weeks before your comments will be approved by the website admin, and you will wait again for backlink updates.

It is good but you need to wait longer.

A few good point have already been mentioned, making sure not to spam, making sure that blogs are of high quality, and of course, the dofollows and the nofollows. Saying more about that would be overkill methinks.

Have a look at it from another perspective, now that the SEO factor has been taken care of Commenting on blogs can help you gain a good reputation as well, and this can also help bring more people to your blog. Simply by reading the comments you have made on other blogs. Reading through a post before you comment, asking questions about the post shows bloggers that you have read what they have written. what this does (well it does with me ) is tug at their curiosity and they would want to know who you are, and they would follow your link to your blog or site, and more than likely read something you wrote and comment on it as well. (I've tried this, and it works). If your blog is of a high standard, it could get the ball rolling and have many people coming to your blog and looking at what you wrote.

If you comment though, if its like wordpress, and it gives you an area to add your website, add it there, and not all over your comment. Its that, coupled with a badly written comment, that generally has a comment ending up on the spam heap.

90% of blog comments have no-follow - so it is a bit of waste of time

There I would respectfully need to disagree. It is a known fact that a mix of do and no follow links are good when it comes to link building. Focusing only on dofollow sends alarm bells to google. Even Google advocated dofollow and nofollow at one point.

'Tis natural linkbuilding.

We can add more informative content that relates to the topic of the blog post....That has not been encompassed in it...surely blog owner would like it, and will accept your backlink in return.

The more relevant the blog the better. You'll get traffic and the link but don't jut rely on blogs for these. They should be part of your overall seo strategy not the only prt.

It can be effective but not as much as forum posting since the results will be feeble.

You can get blog feeds as well as forum feeds if the forum provides this option.

Yes blog commenting is always effective unless you are spammer.
1. If you are commenting on the do follow blogs then your page rank increases.
2. No follow links are also good because they are helpfull to highlight the keywords for the url.

Yes, it is very effective for seo, but not so effective to increase your PR! Only do-follow links can help you raise up your PR. But for SEO each link is a "vote" for your website!
