I am curious where a good place to learn SEO skills is. A web tutorial or a good book. Anything you think would be of help.

The best way is to do some research on the net. There's tons of free and excellent seo perusals for beginners online.

Once you assimilate the basics, participate in seo forums like this one and clear any doubts. And seriously, seo is 99% experimenting by yourself and 1% learning. Good luck if you're so keen in becoming a web slave

There is tons of knowledge in this and many other seo and webmaster related forums. Just to a search on goole for "seo forum" or "webmaster forum".

Just keep reading the forum. When I find I good forum, I always go back and read as many old posts as I can find. A lot of times it's interesting to see how the more established members got started.
