I have been told that link wheels are dated now and not very effective, but I personally am having wonderful results using them. Link wheels using forum signatures is my favourite, but just dont write crappy spam on your forums or you will probably get banned.

I like the humor and the sense of this response. And, I agree. Building links to your website ain't really that hard if you have the contents in it worth linking. But, of course, no great content is linked to without discovery in the first place. So, if you are rest assured that your website offers the best of the best contents, yet it is getting no natural links, then your contents might not have been discovered by the great Gods in upper part of the pyramid. You might want to use social media then to boost awareness to your unique offering. Like, if you have thousands of friends on Facebook, bringing up one of your great contents as a wall post can help spread the word about treasure chest (don't overdo it though).

Till now i do not have any idea about Image Pixel Submission and you can also use SMO for your projects and merge smo with seo to get the better results like use your live links of off page activitie and spread them to social media it will benefit you other option are also there that you may follow.

Is it because that you'll be able to create links in your signature once you reach a certain number of posts? Wouldn't that eliminate the main purpose of joining forums which is to interact with other people? If that's not your reason, then please do state why you prefer forum posting to acquire backlinks.

I did. I have plenty of links over there. However, they are all nofollow. Doesn't matter if the answer with the link gets chosen as best. Only thing is that it gives traffic and that is also in a very poor way. I have 263 answers which have links. 165 best answers. Do you know how many visitors I get through them in average? 10 daily.

From webmaster tools, I came to know that those answer pages get published at made for adsense websites. That gives me some backlinks for my blogs. But sometimes even they turn out to be nofollow.
