Get too many back-links too fast and you can be GoogleGowled, and possibly banned!!! It's a great way to get PR...if you do it right. Don't give new sites too much weight!!! A few thousand is enough for a new site!!! An example of what it can do...
http://www.google.com/search?q=get%20visitors%20quick
In less than a month, the site is #1 out of 63,500,000. Only down side is that not very many people actually search those keywords!!! (Yes, domain name also helps!!)
Some people have also figured out how to use the co-op to make a killing from it. (Think Affiliate landing pages.)

I got about 250,000 of weight testing this thery out, pointing to almost 50 pages!!!
Search engines are hunting through the pages.

for the log covering the landing pages. MSN and Yahoo have been crawling the pages so far.

Well I'm not banned (yet) I've been using COOP on a non business website since it started, and it's kicking arse. Like Nintendo said, providing you don't fire all your weight to a new domain name.
No one I know of has been banned or has had a penalty that can be confirmed due to the DP coop. I think alot of the negativity you see around is due to the fact that they don't have the balls to give it a try.
I don't think you'll find anyone say 'oh yes go for it' as who knows what Google will do next. Try it out on a site that you dont mind it getting dumped and see the effects it has on the rankings!

One person was able to give a TON of ad views to a new site and not get banned....
From only using the co-op, the site got a PR 8 and it's only 14 months old!!!!

Thanks a lot for data Ninno.
I am also using Coop with great results. I have 80K weight (used to be 150K) that I distribute on 40 URLs.
But I actually recommend Link-Vault more for a more "normal" link building. I get around 200 permanent links per day to 50 URLs each having varied anchor with the help of link-vault. Excellent to get links to all your internal pages. Coop is also good but it is 2 total different tools and used for different purposes.
Here is the URL for link-vault:
http://www.link-vault.com/?ss=10717 (support me)
http://www.link-vault.com/ (Normal)
It takes a lot more time than coop but it is worth it

Nintendo (or anyone) have you seen improved results on Google by using the DP coop as I have yet to see this.

I have pointed 27k of weight at my contest page in the signature (the v7n one). It has taken the site from a position hovering in the thirties to 18th place in McDar's tool in just a week. So, yes it works.
I use the permanent version of the coop, hoping that will help on not getting banned.

I recently pointed around 30K at a new site and it worked a charm...The only strange thing is that I have 1/3rd the impressions after increasing my weight by 3 times. If I remember right, your ads get "reassigned" every few days so you can see some big fluctuations in the stats. You do get *some* static links but nothing compared to Link Vault.
The one really annoying thing is validation via the API is REALLY erratic which makes it difficult to get any stabilty when you lose all your weight every 4th day.

I got a bunch of sites nice PR on the last update...all because of the co-op!!!! And, just from the PR update, I gained 384,086 extra weight, then droped to 297,929 extra weight when Google went on crack over the last few weeks.

I am one of those who resulted from to much weight and got banned. I would say it is a great way to spread links int he begining, but as people have said, don't try to get to much weight, or it will turn negative with google. A couple thousand weight for a new site should be enough.

Do you have php enabled on that page. Is it giving you a url when it fails validation?
Probably need more info like what kind of site (html, vB, Wordpress, php, etc)
