A link from PR5 or 5 links from PR4 websites

A means that a PR4 site may have a value of its real PageRank just a tiny bit more than a threshold between PR3 and PR4 of the toolbar, or on the opposite, it may have a tiny bit lesser value than a threshold between PR4 and PR5.

What is your opinion, Which is better for ranking?

I think there is no specific rule book which defines SERPS as per back links..

The basic idea was in starting that google check how many other sites are pointing to your sites,as in if more good sites are referencing yours then your site is good and google will place is appropriately..

So as i consider 4 links from PR4 will be much better than one single pr5 link...

But now days the concept is changing now backlinks are not the king , content is .....

I would choose the backlink from a PR5 website.. But.. you should also investigate the authority of the website! If it is medium (or even low!), you should choose the other 5 backlinks (of course if ONLY the backlinks are from UNIQUE IP's!)

Thanks for sharing ,, But can you explain me the concept of "unique IP":

As if I am using a shared hosting and it is hosting about 50000 site on the same IP I guess.
so if i got back links from 10000 sites from the same IP it will be of no use. Will it considered as only one backlink???

I would say that it Depends on the niche/quality of the sites. A relevant PR4 is much better than 4 irrelevant PR5's.

How do you investigate the authority of a website? What are you using please that is telling you whether it is medium, low or whatever?

I would take the links from the PR4 sites and if possible change up the keywords used. Unique IPs would be great.

Also you can check the domain authority of a website over at www.opensiteexplorer.org and its up to you to decide. Spend some time checking the actual backlinks going to the website where you are getting the link. Are they related websites or just unrelated content?

I do use Open Site explorer but it is more out of interest than anything else. They don't have the same database as Google and Google doesn't use their rankings, so that even if OSE says the authority of a site is high it doesn't mean Google agrees.

It depends on many factors but mostly on the outbound link of that page, the less out bound link page will give you more benefit.

5 links from PR 4 website is good

from PR 5 website, there is only i quality link while from PR4 website there are 5 quality links.

so i like 5 links from PR4 website. if i m wrong then please advice me, how.

There are many SEO tools you can use to check on the projected authority of a website, but the one that I really trust is the tool by SEOmoz, the OSE. When you look-up a URL with the OSE tool, it displays subdomain and domain authority along with some other interesting factors.

Which is much better a link from PR5 or 5 links from PR4 websites? It's a case to case basis:

option 1. PR5 (1)backlink related to my site
option 2. P4 4 backlinks related to my site

**Which one will I choose? Off course I'll choose the second option. Why, because the number of backlinks and type of backlinks are related to my site. Meanwhile if you case is:

option 1: PR5 (1)backlink related to my site
option 2: PR4 with 4 unrelated backlinks

I'll choose the option 1, why, we know that google is weighing quality and related backlinks nowadays so I'd rather have a 1 backlink than a backlinks with high pr but unrelated sites.

It's like you'd rather have 1 trusted friend than have many friends but you can't trust them..

In the real world that is not governed by an obsession with PR....

5 links...will expose your site to more people.......possible customers...
PR will not make money, visitors are the best chance to make a profit...

Jim Gillum has raise a good point. The ultimate purpose of SEO a site is hoping to get more traffic and enquiry.

With 5 PR4 links, it increase a site visibility to reach more target audience. Secondly Google is keep on devalue PR, so single PR5 link does not help much to improve SERP.

why you choose backlink from PR 5, while you are getting 4 quality back links from PR 4?

getting PR 4 back links are good for website.

website can get traffic from 4 website, while choosing PR 5 you will get traffic from only 1 website.
