No they will not help you in SEO, but they are good to use in mass link builder tools like "scrapebox and xrumer"

Xrumer is definitely a black-hat stuff one. And I really don't see any connection between shortened URL's and this software stuff.

For those who did not watch the video, shortened URLs are not different from any form of 301 redirect. There's also no harm in using shortened URLs instead of long URLs. Matt Cutts suggests that you determined whether the links are do-follow or no-follow. No follow links will not benefit your SEO efforts as much as do-follow links will.

The shorter URLs are better for SEO and neatness of your site.
There is nothing bad about having shorter URLs.

There's some difference between "Nothing bad" and "better for SEO", not? BIG god-damn difference!

I see why you would think this but its a great seo tool, Forget the auto posting feature that is blackhat, but you get about 20 add-ons such as the backlink checker, link checker, pr checker , fake pr checker & many more really good white hat tools, I have never even tried to use the auto posting function, I purchased it just for the addons, sb should make a new program without auto posting and sell it as a white hat seo tool, I am not affiliated with sb or anything like that, but i speak very good words of them because what scrapebox says it does, it actually does. Its the best $100 i ever spent on any program.
I sat down with my old boss for 30 days straight learning how to use sb the correct whitehat way and it’s the best thing I ever did, It would take years for what sb can do in minutes, I never use proxies I just use my own ip and if you don’t go crazy nobody bans you, I use it for 3 hours daily with a low connection such as 1-3 and I have never been banned.
I am not promoting them, I just think it’s a good tool its only frowned upon because of the auto posting feature, but everyone I know who uses sb, never even uses that feature.
I know this is a whitehat forum, and scrapebox is classed as blackhat but for those who use it correctly and not doing any bad blackhat methods sb is great

FYI, if anyone is thinking about pulling a xrumer attack on v7n, in do time all your logins will be removed.

<-- Just tossing out a verbal warning to all members.

Hello snakeair does this happen often? When ppn pay me today i am buying vbulletin, I am getting the publishing suite, I was planning on making user profile pages none public or removing the url field completely, Do you think this will help get less attacks? I also want the captcha before every thread started for new users, the captcha will then be disabled when the user builds up some trust, I want no links allowed before 25 good posts.

The forum i am making is nothing to do with webmasters, Its a celeb gossip forum, I know there are lots of these already, but its a long term project i expect it to take lots of years before i have a good community i just do not want anyone spamming me or just coming for a backlink and nothing else, Do you think the captcha will help? Or can xrumor get past this?

I was also advised to remove the powered by vbulletin at the footer, and make my forum nofollow is this possible?
I never known this was your forum but I have some questions if you can answer them for me this would be great
My first one, Let say someone does do an attack on me how easy it is to remove all these bad profiles? Is there an option for deleting inactive profiles, threads?
Are there any hidden fees when you buy vbulletin? So when I buy the publishing suite today will I need to buy anything else such as required add-ons?
I installed phbbb but it just looks horrible and the urls are not search engine friendly, To get urls like yours is this another add-on?
Also these little green points “icons” is this standard or is another addon?
Also my other sites are hosted with godaddy shared hosting, I was told godaddy was not that good when it comes to vbullitn is this true?
Do you think I would need a dedicated server to run vbullitin to start with? Or would a shared server for starters be ok?

Short Url will not help you in your ranking. Rather than, it will drive some traffic to your site. The people when comes up with a short URL they tend to gain the interest. This might also be said according to the study there has been a small statistical record which refers to the fact that the URL with a shorter length gets clicked more often than the long ones.

Short URL is useful with respect to SEO. Because there are some activity that can't take repeat URL submission, so through short URL you can do same submission.
