The number of Do follow blogs is decreasing day by day. Don't trust if someone provides you a list or you search a list through google. I bet there are only a few do follow and mostly full of spammy comments. Start searching for backlinks of your competitors and see if there are blog url available.
By the way you can search google through this specific search box
http://www.google.com/blogsearch
Write your theme or keywords such as "automotive" and try your fate.
Good luck!

Use some of the tips above to find industry related blogs, then use the inspector tool on comment links to see if they are nofollowed. I use firebug alot for this too in Firefox.
Though, you might want to consider using blog commenting to build relationships vs. just link building.

Your Keywords “Notify me of follow-up comments”
Your Keywords “This site uses KeywordLuv”
Your Keywords “Enable CommentLuv”
Your Keywords “You can use these tags”
Your Keywords “Powered by BlogEngine.NET”
Your Keywords “Allowed HTML tags:”
Your Keywords “top commenter”
I use some of these to find blogs. but to check if they are do follow I use a Google Chrome plugin SEO for Chrome. It hightlights the links that are nofollow. if the blogs you find have comments, check the links that commenters left ( or their names ) for a intrerupted red line. Those links are nofollow which means there is no point in commenting if you're only interested in backlinking. But I would suggest you do comment. You never know where the best traffic might come from.

I have also discovered " Fast blog finder " . it finds do-follow blogs according to your keywords. There's a free version but it can only find you 50 blogs, you need to purchease it to find 2000+ do-follow blogs. It's an interesting tool, not perfect but ok.

If you are looking for dofollow blogs for commenting you should try inlineseo and it should be the first result. Basically it searches for dofollow blogs in your niche, be careful because most sites are similar so you will need to scroll and search the pages for other blogs. i use this sometimes. If you want a software, there are many but i only know the ones for social bookmarking, article marketing and web 2.0 ones. I don;t suggest you to get a program for the dofollow blogs as there are many people over abusing this and it just doesn't look nice when your building links.

Well first of all, you should probably be reading and commenting at blogs related to your topic, whether they're nofollow or not. Then when you make some comments and get in to the conversations, you can check if they're dofollow. Then maybe make a note of what kind of comment plugin or themes they're using, because you can often use that information to find even more dofollow blogs...

I would have to disagree with you on reading comments. Have you checked some of these sites out for yourself? they are filled with spam or repeated sentences like "thanks for the great job", "nice design", "i like your blog". You get all kinds of stupidity in the comments and not even related to the blog itself. It is better off you read the blog and make your own comment on it and advise, people will appreciate this way more then reading useless comments.
Also to clear this up, if you want to search for just blogs, go to google search what you want and click blogs on the sidebar you shouldn't miss it. It gives a better search result and an easier time to find blogs to comment on. Don;t worry about the nofollow and dofollow blogs just focus on giving good comments.

Try to search for KeywordLuv and CommentLuv widgets ENABLED in wordpress blogs. Most of them would be do-follow (some of them might be even auto-approved!) // The only thing is that your comment should be informative and niche related (automotive topic!) /// AND DO NOT SPAM!!! ///

I use commentluv its great and they all seem to be do follows.
Also might want to look at a adon for Firefox. Get a adon that strikes through no follow links you can then see as soon as you go in the blog.
