Position One In Google.com But Not In Top 100 In Google.co.uk

Hi , This has happend over night i guess its due to a google update, Last night my site was position one in both google.co.uk & google.com.

Today i am still position one in google.com but i am not even in the top 100 for google.co.uk

Whats the best method to get back to the top in google.co.uk?

Would building backlinks from .co.uk sites help?

I am actually in the UK So the .co.uk search is quite important as i target topics of interest to the UK mainly.

I have not been spamming or over optimizing etc normally i do not have a problem getting to the top and keeping my position, its just i have never seen a drop like this before, I have dropped one or two places but never hundreds what do you think is going on here? Any ideas how to get back up?

This has had a huge impact on my traffic,Ive lost at least 20,000 unques within 12 hours.

There have been a few new updates running lately that google have rolled out and this has been happening to quite a few people. One day all is well and the next day the site just tanked.

I have had quite a few people contact me and panicking regarding this as they want the key phrases pushed back up and want to know what can be done. A lot of people are saying it is because google are penalising for over-optimisation, but this isn't always the case. When google roll out new updates, they sometimes have to roll out fix-packs (technical term lol!) to combat any issues that may have occured with their update.

The only way to get a true idea of what is happening would be for one to study the site, the link structure and take it from there.

Thanks g10 - Its changed again its gone to position 7 in google.co.uk and position 2 in google.com. I have been saving a small list of pr4 & above inner pages with very low externals under 10 , I did 50 good ones and a few lower value links ended up with 15 good related .co.uk's ,i hope this is enough for today just to give it a boost to the top i dont know if the .co.uk backlinks work its just the only thing i can think of, i also had some good posts that i was going to use on my site but i thought at this time it may be more beneficial today to give those to a few other sites in return for a good link. I had to premade over
30 x 700 word unique posts it took me about two days to do them , so i hope this is two days ahead of my new competition. Well thats the plan i bet when i wake up its even worse

It worked i'm back at the top of google.com and position two of google.co.uk , I am going to repeat the process today, I stayed up late last night wrote 30 more posts, I am going to post one per hour today and ping each one.

I do not want to push it with the link building, So i am going to skip that today and just work on fresh content.

I have removed the advertising for a few days just to speed up the load time of my pages, My site has heavy advertsing, clicksor, ppn, adfly, popads & paid banners.

I have removed everything apart from 2 banners, The guy who has took my place did a big link campaign this week, I track him using alerts & spyglass he is taking my content and spinning it, so its only a matter of time before he drops, I wouldnt mind people taking my content, If they linked back to me but they don't they take it,spin it,post it. He has now even stopped doing 30% unique words , I think he is crawling my site and auto posting the content, This is why i am having to ping everything, I removed my sitemap to help stop him indexing my content before me. I know people say you need a sitemap which i agree with, but in this case its benefiting him more than it is me.

I know this is not seo, but i did a social blast, not auto , everything by hand, I just pretty much went to all the bookmarking sites, social sites, shared my links and latest posts with sites like digg etc, I have not seen a difference in my social engagement yet but i am hoping to within the next few hours.

I am also looking for good guest posting sites today , I am going to do a full week on this to try and get some good quality contextual links instead of my normal comment links.

I can't really think of anything more to do. If anyone has any more suggestions this would be good, I have a few full weeks to work on this site, I have put my others on hold for the time being.

you need geo tagging try to change not specific in google webmasters tools and set it to UK this way you can get better ranks in UK too.! i have done this and have been successful for me it didn't hurt my ranking in Google.com so i think that it won't have much effect on yours website as well..!

Thanks, You should be OK i have 20 sites now and they are all under 40 days old and most of them are position one, Over the last 7 days the positions have gone crazy, Over 10 of them dropped to "not in top 100" they are slowly climbing back to the top. The best advice i can give is fresh content, Its working, Googles new update is targeting spam sites, none of mine are spam but they are new and ranking well, so this looks a little suspect i guess, they hit me hard taking 50% off my sites out the game

I used this drop as an advantage to run some tests, so i had 10 sites drop below postion 100, I worked on 3 added lots of fresh 100% unique content 10 new rich posts to each. Those 3 sites i worked on are now in the top 20 positions, I didnt even build any links to two of them. So the content alone is working great.

I used a method my friend told me to do , which is write about things that are happening right now online, news, viral videos, etc

Keep strong and don't let it get you down, run some tests, get some results, turn a bad situation into a good one

Let me know how you get on

Good luck

This looks interesting... Didn't see many sites like this! Be sure to get some backlinks that are from .co.uk domains... Might help?!?

to rank up your site in google uk, try to get high pr backlinks from .co.uk domains. and make sure they are related to your site niche.

Yea! it happens lot a times. Sometimes rankings fluctuate due to local reason like personalised results, browser history etc. I am sure you are checking your ranking with all measures.
